Noel Murray Los Angeles Times "Granny of the Dead" undercuts a potentially potent horror premise by mining it for gross-out comedy. Jul 13, 2017 Full Review Martin Unsworth Starburst You might be amused and lured by the quirky title, but Granny of the Dead has much more going for it. It might not reach the lofty commercial heights of Edgar Wright's classic, but neither does it simply ape or riff on it. Rated: 7/10 Sep 18, 2017 Full Review Read all reviews

zachary G It's wasn't bad it just was that good either The zombies looked fairly decent and had a relatively good plot but that was about it. The comedy in it wasn't good that great, only 1 bit with was laughing funny more of oh that's amusing Rated 2 out of 5 stars 12/15/22 Full Review Audience Member raig Tudor James directed, wrote, produced, edited, shot, did the effects and sound, as well as acted as Corey in this movie, a film in which a guy named Ed learns that his grandmother has gone on to her just reward only to come back as a shambling zombie who is gained power with each moment. In fact, everyone old has become a zombie, which means that elderly care is about to change for all of us. Sometimes, your zombie movie is Shaun of the Dead and sometimes, it's Hard Rock Zombies. This one is, well, the latter. A funny idea that maybe will make a few laugh, but probably the weakest of the films on this set. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member When Scary Movie gave us a horror movie parody of a horror movie parody in the year 2000, it irreparably damaged the film community for all time. When this Granny of the Dead horror movie parodied a different horror movie parody in 2017, it was somehow even worse. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review Audience Member Poignant, and detailed, with a wonderful flare for the dramatic, Granny of the Dead is the next great foray into the zombie genre. Director and writer Tudley James brings together a motley group of rookie actors, who each shine in their roles and bring the film a sense of authenticity that is welcome in a genre that has become saturated in over the top special effects and sub-par performances. Our characters are trying to survive a zombie apocalypse in which the elderly are the only ones effected, Tudley James utilizes a brilliant method of parallel editing to keep all his storylines cohesive and clever. With decisive wit and charm Granny of the Dead asserts itself as one of the best horror releases this year, one that horror and comedy fans alike will be frothing at the mouth to see. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review Audience Member Great flick, funny zom-com! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/14/23 Full Review Audience Member Granny of the Dead is the latest zombie comedy and it definitely holds its own. In a genre full of classics like Shaun of the Dead and Zombieland, Granny of the Dead sets itself apart by having a unique plot and some great kills and gags of its own. When a mysterious force transforms all the elderly citizens of a quiet, English town into the undead, the youth find themselves fighting for their lives. There are some gruesome kills, as can be accepted for the genre, which include more classic ones like a cleaver through the head and some more inventive ones that I won't spoil. One scene in particular takes place in a bedroom and perfectly meshes the zombie violence with the humor. The director, Tudley James, uses some interesting camera angles and a variety of different POV shots to make the film exciting just to look at. For anyone who is a fan of B-movie spoofs like Sharknado (the director of that produced this film) or zombie films, Granny of the Dead is a hilarious and horrifying flick definitely worth a watch.
