Critics Consensus

I Think We're Alone Now benefits from an absorbing aesthetic and solid work from its leads, although it's still somewhat less than the sum of its post-apocalyptic parts.

There's a claustrophobic comfort to it... Yet there is space for silence and reflection, and many shots are quietly beautiful - until a Rush song blares, puncturing the meditative mood. Go to Full Review

Makowsky’s script deftly explores the unique ways the lingering trauma of survivor’s guilt effects individuals and the way leaders would try to move convince the remaining population to move on without fully processing it. Go to Full Review

Daniel L Dec 20 Slow but compelling. Intriguing, sad and tragic. Not a lot happens but you find yourself drawn in and unable to look away. Great performance by Peter Dinklage. There's somthing about his character that you really enjoy. See more Patrick S Oct 13 The movie started out with great Potential, a man who has found purpose and peace in this Apocalyptic new world Broken with the arrival of this young charismatic ,rebellious teenager!! Then for some reason goes nowhere worthwhile, a very weak plot and to be honest boring climax It was quite stupid That song at the very end ,did they completely run out of money? See more isibella a Aug 31 I think it's not for everyone. But for those feeling lost in a dark space in their lives I think this movie can really be quite beneficial. The isolation is almost soothing, and the realism that Peter plays in his role as an introvert is undeniable. They both do a really great job in this movie as portraying two lost souls. If you are feeling depressed and looking for something to get lost in this is a nice option. The cinematography is beautiful also. ✨️ See more Rik O Mar 5 It feels like they knew they wanted to write a story but they just didn't know what that story was. This film is aching to be a love story. The story is supposed to be something like "You don't need the love of the World if you are the World to one person" He's a jaded angry man, she's a spritely happy girl and when they have nobody else they find each other. The film doesn't do this though, it misses every opportunity it has to build on that romance. Spoiler alert... At one point she finds and gets attached to a dog, which he subsequently releases into the wild. He has callously gotten rid of something she loves and... Nothing. No conversation, no blow back, no nothing. That should have been the catalyst for some tension but they just let it go. Then later, in the third act, when they're supposed to be growing closer, the film segways into sci-fi territory with a random subplot that has nothing to do with their budding relationship. There is almost no dialogue throughout the whole film, which works in small doses, but if you're going to give the bare minimum of dialogue then it better be amazing when it arrives. Instead the sound is muffled and the dialogue is clunky. She goes to clean his parents house, which he didn't want her to find. Queue backstory or deep explanation... Nope, just bury the Mum and move on. It just never capitalises on those key scenes. Such a shame because the acting and everything else was on point. See more Shioka O Mar 4 I like the actors but I couldn't get it. so low key I almost slept. See more Jaelmac M Feb 17 It started out as my kind of film...like The Last Of Us, TWD etc but towards the 2nd half got a bit confusing. Peter Dinklage and Elle Fanning are great, but it kinda lost me unfortunately. See more Read all reviews
