Brad Newsome Sydney Morning Herald The characters' disconnection from each other also tends to disconnect them from the viewer, making the film's transatlantic crossing aboard the Queen Mary 2 a long and languorous affair. Rated: 3/5 Feb 24, 2021 Full Review Jocelyn Noveck Associated Press A clever and absorbing film that feels, alas, a little unfinished and a touch too improvisational. Rated: 2.5/4 Jan 12, 2021 Full Review Richard Brody The New Yorker "Let Them All Talk" offers enough surprises of tone, pleasures of mood, and piquantly composed images to carry the film through with a sort of visual music, compensating for the dramatic thinness without overcoming it. Dec 18, 2020 Full Review Sarah Cortinaz InSession Film Let Them All Talk feels like you’re sitting down to watch a documentary. His continued eye for detail brings such a layer of humanity to the characters. For better or worse, their lives are open for all to see. YIYI X I watched this film yesterday. The death of Alice is sort of abrupt for me, and when I searched whether the Nephew is actually the son of Alice, I found many said the death of Alice was a murder. WOW! I didn’t realize that at all. The besties of Alice are the silent one who likes reading and always shocks me when she speaks about her only affair, and the other one, who seems to be the inspiration of the character from a best-selling book, wants to get an apology and find her next chance to earn money, even find a wealthy man to marry. Sometimes, I really thought maybe Robert was wrong, the character could be a mix of different people, and might not be just focused on her own life. But Alice always wants to chat with her rather than another bestie, which is kind of weird. Maybe she does feel sorry for using the story from her friend, which led to the failure of her friend’s marriage. And the book editor also seems kind of strange, following her client to the ship. And avoid meeting her, but keep an eye on her through her nephew. And she did not ask the nephew to look more into the new book draft, which should be the things she really cares about. The doctor was the one I did not expect, really, just thought he was sort of the secret lover. Hard to say whether he really cared about his patient or not. Companying her while swimming, but reading the novel. I really like the ladies' lookout, elegant and charming. Also, seems like Meryl is good at swimming. Before I saw it, I thought I would get the wisdom from the ladies. And the thing that I can remember is the fake star would be hang on the sky when we look at it. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 10/05/25 Full Review Matt H With a cast this good, how could it be bad? Well, sadly, it was. It was pretentious and lacking any sense of self-awareness. I made myself watch through to the end but I found myself more perplexed than anything else. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/09/25 Full Review Sal D Uninspiring, clichè, predictable, mostly two dimensional characters none of which I felt compelled by….this film seems like one of a number I’ve previously suffered through, except for true casting. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 09/29/24 Full Review Bahad j In my opinion, I felt that the movie was very good, behind all this, the filmmaker was able to come up with the right festive details to congratulate the members of the behind-the-scenes team. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/05/24 Full Review Bulgantamir B I liked the main idea of the movie Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/05/24 Full Review Jeff M A movie featuring three female leads over the age of 70 deserves a plaque and a free dinner at Bob Evans just for existing! The fact that said movie happens to be intelligent, literate, funny, contemplative and thought-provoking makes the cause for celebration that much more warranted. This is admittedly not a movie for everyone, and some viewers will be bored to such an extent the channel will probably be turning within the half hour. But I love dialogue and discussion - I don't need an explosion every ten minutes. And watching characters like these sit around talking about their lives - and often saying more by what is left unsaid - is catnip for me. The fact that the dialogue was improvised by the actors makes the whole thing even more astounding. Performances across the board are superlative - and I wouldn't be surprised to see Bergen end up with a Supporting Actress Oscar nomination. A subplot involving a budding relationship between Streep's nephew and her agent detracts a bit from the terrific threesome, but this is a minor quibble. This is also the first movie I've ever seen that makes me remotely consider taking a cruise! Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/22/24 Full Review Read all reviews
