Matt Brunson Film Frenzy The love story is commonplace and hampered by a noticeable lack of chemistry between Sinatra and Lollobrigida -- the war material is similarly humdrum until a late-inning development. Blu B Dude I got a high tolerance for even boring stuff but this was boring and terrible. The acting isn't that good suprisngly. Frank's fine enough and and the supporting group under him is alright but they barely get any focus so they end up being super forgettable by the end. Even with the combat scenes of them fighting. the love interest Carla isn't good and neither are really any of the officers who are so wooden and one tone the entire way. Whenever any scenes with Carla come up it just makes me ticked because it gets so boring and dragged out more than any other time and they don' really have much chemistry either. The music also is so boring, generic, and forgettable. The cinematography isn't good despite some great sets, lots of production value and a star studded cast. The battle scenes have great special effects also. What drags this down is Sturges direction is just alright and over 75% of this movie is just people standing around talking with nothing special dialouge and meandering. The editing is terrible and the pacing is horrifcally bad. Were led to believe this is about a group of WWII fighters who lead a rebel guerilla war Dirty Dozen style. Instead what it becomes is a melodrama romance about Sinatra's character. This is a war movie 10-15% of the time and the battle scenes really don't feel like they add anything. I swear it felt like I was here over 3 hours. It takes FOREVER to get to it's point. It makes perfect sense but it's so dragged out, meandering, boring to look at, listen to, and misleading. I've seen boring stuff from this time but lots of times at least it's short or has epic scale. This has neither. It never makes the war uprising work with the melodrama of the Captain. That's really what this is. A boring melodrama in a war backdrop about the Captain and his romance and struggles with a mini court movie ending. Again the romance scenes aren't good and the worst part and end up being I swear half the movie. Skip This. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 10/18/24 Full Review Paul S Lots of Hollywood stars of the era. Plot was a bit loose though. Plenty of action scenes. Worth seeing for the gorgeous Gina Lollobrigida. (Her role as an arms dealer's daughter was a stretch) Rainy day/popcorn flick. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/22/24 Full Review Audience Member Except for the acting of McQueen, this is one turd of a movie. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 01/14/23 Full Review Audience Member Great cast, weak direction and awful dialogue. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review ashley h Never So Few is a decent film. It is about Captain Tom Reynolds and his band of skilled O.S.S. operatives who are in WWII Burma to train the Kachin natives in modern warfare. Frank Sinatra and Peter Lawford give good performances. The screenplay is a little slow in places. John Sturges did an alright job directing this movie. I liked this motion picture because of the drama.
