Still, there are some improvements here from the original anime. Visually, the animation is lovely to look at, with the glittering rainbow-coloured feathers of the mystical Ho-Oh character especially mesmerising. If only the story is as compelling.

Better to think of it as a reboot of Ash's journey and not a remake, this did a good job to get younger kids into Pokemon. Definitely some things I didn't like, especially with Pikachu near the end, but the rest of the movie is fine.

I will start off with this, this movie was kind of mediocre. The plot was kind of all over the place and the characters were ok at best. The idea of Marshadow and the rainbow feather was nice though. I would watch it again, but you aren't missing much in this movie. 3.5/5 mediocre movie
