      Robson C Clémence Collombet é a prefeita de um subúrbio parisiense que está no último ano do seu mandato. Decidida a se aposentar, ela escolhe uma assessora para ser sua sucessora e briga para que um projeto milionário seja aprovado para melhorar um conjunto habitacional. Porém, após ser avisada que seu nome seria indicado a um ministério, ela decide desistir da aposentadoria e continuar na vida pública. O filme trata da vida de um político, que pode até iniciar uma carreira, com a intenção de ajudar e melhorar a vida das outras pessoas, mas depois, pode ter sido contaminado pelo bichinho do poder e não querer largar a mão do cargo, mais pelo poder do que pela missão. Isabelle Huppert está muito bem no papel, com a sua Clémence andando em uma corda bamba. Porém, se percebermos, mesmo os personagens que podemos dizer que são do bem, também cometem atos recriminatórios. A consciência de Clémence é o seu assessor Yazid, leal e fiel, mesmo que a própria Clémence o sacrifique em determinada hora. Talvez uma coisa que prejudique o filme seja a sua duração, com muitas situações sendo resolvidas muito rapidamente, ou outras nem mesmo sendo trabalhadas, como por exemplo, o relacionamento de Clémence com a sua assessora, quando ela descobre que Clémence quer se candidatar novamente à prefeita. O filme também fala sobre outros temas, como os refugiados de países ex-colônias da França, o sistema de moradia que está sendo dilapidado, com senhorios transformando um aposento de um apartamento em moradia para uma família.
