Panos Kotzathanasis Asian Movie Pulse he film lags too much, with a number of scenes that seem to continue on for no apparent reason, which, in combination with the rather slow pace, makes "Sabu" quite difficult to watch. Audience Member For me, this was the epitome of an average film. Apparently it's a "historical" drama, as opposed to a simple "period" drama, but basically it tells a somewhat compelling story that suffers only slightly from some questionable character motivation (why does Eiji hit his best friend and one of his few advocates for an injustice that he has already discovered he wasn't responsible for?) but otherwise wraps up essentially as expected all along. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/02/23 Full Review Audience Member It really didn't need to be two hours. 90 minutes would have been more than adequate. The directing is, of course, exemplary. It's strange for Miike to do such a frequently boring drama. Yawn-inducing chick-flick. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member It was an ok movie with a nice story line. It is just that the story line didn't really go along smooth. It jumped around way too much. At some parts you couldn't even figure out which story went to which character. Tatsuya Fujiwara, I think, is always a great actor and did a great job in his role. He just seems to be good with emotion. The other actor, Satoshi Tsumabuki was just ok. It might of been the character he played that annoyed me, but I just didn't feel his role like I did with Fujiwara. Takashi Miike is a great director and I can't say he never really made a terrible movie. I would have to say that this is not one of his best though. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Completely the opposite of how I think of Takashi Miike films, but it was pretty and a sweet story. Not for those who don't mind a slower pace though. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Audience Member It was an ok movie with a nice story line.
