Gentle Glen (Billy Boyd) is a ventriloquist's dummy, the offspring of evil doll Chucky (Brad Dourif) and his doll bride (Jennifer Tilly), both of whom are now deceased. When the orphaned Glen hears that a film is being made about his parents, he goes to Hollywood and resurrects them in an attempt to get to know them better. He is horrified when Chucky and his lover embark on a new killing spree, and Chucky is equally horrified that his son has no taste for evil.

Seed is without a doubt the worst Chucky movie this far—the writing doesn't make a lick of sense, and so it seems kind of forced in order to make a quick buck. I knew this when I revisited this entry to the series from years and years past, but I still found myself positively surprised by many of Chucky and Tiffy's witty one-liners and even some of the kills. This movie went so far as to get a genuine laugh or two out of me (no, not the super-obvious Stanley Kubrick one...), so even though Seed of Chucky is trash, I guess I would have to recommend even this lowliest of the Chucky saga to fans and supernatural slasher casuals alike. A very special mention has to go to the SFX team: To my understanding, the facial expressions (among all other puppet effects) of Chucky et al. were all done with animatronics and puppetry, which in the year of viewing 2025 seems incredible with all the cheap-looking CGI that's been floating around for AGES.

Who would’ve thought when Chucky was first bought onto our screens in the 80s, that we would one day get his seed in a sequel. Entertaining but not for the good horror reasons.
