While it goes not have quite the impact of The Jolson Story, it is nevertheless a craftsmanlike job. Go to Full Review

Just about as grandiose and mawkish as Hollywood homage can be. Go to Full Review

Hideously schmaltzy and Hayward's not exactly anyone's idea of musical sparkle. But what songs! Go to Full Review

A chronicle of her life doesn’t ever really rise to the occasion of movie-worthy; her specific misfortune seems utterly negligible in the realm of theatrical adversities. Go to Full Review

Mark A 12/20/2022 Good story and Susan Hayward gives another great performance. See more steve d 07/21/2020 Hayward's strong performance saves it. See more 09/02/2019 Froman sings the most vanilla -- I mean vanilla vanilla -- versions of songs that make them so boring you can't stand them. Luckily, other artists with more soul come along to sing these songs and make them popular. Her rendition of "Blue Moon" is really tragic, but by the end of the decade, the Marcels will have re-made the song and taken it to #1. See more 01/01/2019 Her story is inspiring and the songs are absolutely fabulous! I loved this movie! See more bill t 06/10/2018 I went in with the heavy load on my shoulder of "LET'S SEE HOW THIS MOVIE WON OVER SINGIN' IN THE RAIN FOR BEST MUSICAL SCORE IN 1952!" (which it did) and was all ready to laugh at it because of it, and despite it's obviousness in some places, overt sentimality and tissue demanding scenes (cue hospital scenes!) and Susan Hayward's uh, broad lip syncing, this was actually enjoyable! The songs are all from the World War II songbook which may have helped get bonus points. But you have to admit the movie's heroine, who I have absolutely never heard of (nor does it really make me wish I did) has a bit of a feel good story, and the movie celebrates that and just ends with the most rah rah ending ever. Also, best prelude to a plane crash ever. LOL See more 07/21/2016 Susan Hayward was nominated for an Oscar for her performance as radio sweetheart Jane Froman (who actually voice-dubbed for Hayward); the screenplay is a bit mushy, but the musical scenes are terrific.
