Inspired by actual events, when high school football hero and decorated policeman’s son Jimmy Keene is sentenced to 10 years in a minimum security prison, he is given the choice of a lifetime — enter a maximum-security prison for the criminally insane and befriend suspected serial killer Larry Hall, or stay where he is and serve his full sentence with no possibility of parole. Keene quickly realizes his only way out is to elicit a confession and find out where the bodies of several young girls are buried before Hall’s appeal goes through. But is this suspected killer telling the truth? Or is it just another tale from a serial liar?

Kristen Lopez IndieWire It’s a tone poem more than a plot-driven television show. It interrogated masculinity in a way that invited people in with a crime story, only to leave them with a call for deeper introspection about how we all move through the world. Rated: B+ Aug 22, 2022 Full Review Andrew Male Times (UK) This is Egerton’s show and he is utterly convincing as a man with nothing left to save him but the art of the con. Aug 5, 2022 Full Review Nick Schager The Daily Beast There may be more serial killer screen performances in movies and TV than there are actual serial killers, and yet Paul Walter Hauser’s turn in Black Bird is one for the ages. Jul 30, 2022 Full Review Tamma Moksha The Hindu If you are a Mindhunter fan who has still not gotten over not getting a third season of your favourite show, Black Bird can provide some much-needed closure. Jun 12, 2024 Full Review Pramit Chatterjee Digital Mafia Talkies [Taron] Egerton and Paul Walter Hauser are the poster boys of Black Bird, and they earn the hell out of that spot. Both of them physically and psychologically transform into their respective roles and play off of each other so beautifully. Rated: 3/5 Jul 20, 2023 Full Review Aaron Phillips But Why Tho? A Geek Community Black Bird is an enjoyable series, but in the genre of true crime stories, it underdelivers overall. Rated: 7/10 Jan 14, 2023 Full Review Read all reviews

Brian T The story of Jimmy Keene is unique and cool. Enjoyed this show man! Taron Eagerton was lucky to have this role. He did a good job! Wish there was a sequel'o Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/01/25 Full Review Kormákur B Gritty, Thrilling, and Tense. Paul Walter Hauser's performance was an absolute standout, which is not easy when working with such an incredible cast. You won't be disappointed. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/17/25 Full Review Philip O Best tv show I’ve ever seen. Better than true detective, breaking bad, etc. MUST SEE Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/19/25 Full Review AJ C Top notch acting, no doubt, with minor exceptions. Unfortunately the pace is slightly slower than it ought to be and lacks content for the actual victims. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/03/25 Full Review B N Nothing like a good Docu Series . Paul Walker H acting makes you believe he is the real deal . Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/27/24 Full Review Brian D 84%. 10/15/24. Cool true story about a convicted drug dealer going under cover to get a confession from a convict held in a prison for the clinically insane. They never find the girls bodies but he does tell him something that only the killer would know so he goes to prison for life. The murderer actor was very impressive. He was in the womb with his twin brother and got less oxygen. Good show but just a little slow. 3/5 rewatch Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 10/21/24 Full Review Read all reviews
