Torben E @Torben Apr 12 Amazing thriller/comedy TV series, consisting of seven episodes and with a distinct morbid sense of humor. Amazing actors, beautiful scenery, interesting plot and adorable quirkily British (or: Irish) characters. You have to love quirky characters and black humor to enjoy the whole thing. In this series, the characters and their relationships as well as their personal growth are more important than the murder mystery itself. This might bother some viewers but in times of trivial, predictable run-of-the-mill TV series this one really feels like a breath of fresh air. The three leads are all despicable in their own ways, but it’s the vicious, manipulative, vindictive "journalist" that had me hoping that I’d get to see her die painfully at some point. #2 is the "dogsbody" who, thanks to a couple of sentences murmured in her ear, morphs into an unstoppable bullying juggernaut bereft of any recognizable human emotion except for naked ambition and greed. Last, but hardly least, is the physically, emotionally, and mentally flabby "podcaster" who becomes the "journalist" ‘s punching bag and a simp of the first water. On the plus side, this stinker manages to check off every single box on the Movie Tropes, Clichés, and Stereotypes List, and I do mean every one. The story is the perfect mix of fun, often absurd moments and mystery. And the characters had so much depth! I only wish there was more of it, the developments of the last episode could have needed a bit more time to play out more organically, it felt a little bit rushed at the end. Still, this has been my favourite watch in a long time, I'm really going to miss those characters!
