Primal is full of adventure, blood and limbs flying, and the uncertainty of the human heart, even though its main characters aren’t necessarily human at all. Go to Full Review

Both visually and emotionally, Primal has kicked it up another gear yet again, embracing the supernatural like never before and asking big questions about humanity while barely uttering a single word. Go to Full Review

Season three solidifies Primal as one of the best adult animated television series of all time. Every element of this show is phenomenal; a violent and visceral fever dream that is so overwhelmingly badass and undeniably metal as hell. Go to Full Review

Yusef B @Yusef689 24m Loved season 1 &2. Season 3? Not so much. The zombie move was a big swing for the fences. Unfortunately it whiffed See more Hughe J @Hughe 2d Primal Season 3 (S3) was released in 2026 and was created by Genndy Tartakovsky who was also responsible for Samurai Jack, one of my all time favorite animated shows. The show is set in a pseudo prehistoric world replete with dinosaurs, monsters, magic, cave men, sorcery, vikings, pretty much everything except aliens (at least so far). The first two seasons focused on two companions Spear (caveman) and Fang (dinosaur) as they struggled to survive in this world. It was bloody and gruesome but you came to care for both characters due to their struggle to survive. At the end of S2 Spear died heroically but in S3 he's brought back as a zombie for some reason, a literal zombie, and for me it didn't work. The comradery between the characters is what intrigued me as a show, not watching a once beloved character getting chewed on every episode by monsters. The animation is still very good, and worth a watch for that alone, but overall this season pales in comparison to the earlier ones. See more T S 5d Good season, altho I feel bad watching Spears body getting decimated. See more Justin M @DrNiko Feb 22 Absolutely fantastic so far See more Obi-wan K @Gordon_Freeman Feb 14 How Tf they gon bring spear back bruh See more B L Feb 10 Great exploration of humanity (mostly best) sides. Without uttering a single comprehensible word by main characters, you know them to the bottom of their souls. Gendy delivered a feast in character development, with the plot being of secondary importance although entertaining, fitting the genre and with interesting take on prehistoric vibe. Action scenes are wild, gory and satisfying. Aesthetics are simple, simplistic even. Character's emotions are palpable and strong. This is not a zombie series. You see past Spear's appearance after a couple of episodes. Gendy wanted the audience to suffer with main protagonists. After the first 2 seasons, seeing Spear as a confused, suffering, broken undead, made my empathy'ometer go nutts. Very refreshing and different from what the mainstream offers. I cannot recommend this all Primal seasons highly enough. See more Read all reviews
