Alex O. It’s probably entertaining for younger kids and has some great cinematography, but overall, it can’t keep my attention. Every choices the characters make are either exactly what’s expected, conveniently spontaneous plot choices or for comedic effect, and they gave up most opportunities to exemplify character development or thoughtful commentary. The “self-discovery” from the synopsis seems missing to me. Although it seems trivial for a kids show, it makes the show difficult to care about since everything is exactly as it appears and nothing more. Dialogue and interactions are dry and nearly exclusively trying to wring a chuckle out of the audience. It doesn’t take a single scene seriously, which is probably intentional, but robs it of a chance to create meaningful moments, even brief ones. There were no stakes, no real emotions and no interactions not revolving around artificially pushing forward the plot or comedically resolving whatever arbitrary problem they’d introduced minutes ago. I was ready to enjoy this show, but it really doesn’t go anywhere and feels like I have to turn off my brain to get through it.
