Drew Gregory Autostraddle The stakes are higher than other recent industry satires because meaningful art is bumping up against the broken film industry. Apr 15, 2025 Full Review Keith Watson Daily Telegraph (UK) The Studio is no hatchet job; a palpable love of the world it’s poking fun at shines through in every scene. Rated: 5/5 Apr 4, 2025 Full Review Tim Glanfield Times (UK) There has been no shortage of films and shows throughout the years that aim to prick the pomposity of the film game or satirise the silliness of it... but what makes The Studio stand out is that it genuinely seems to come from a place of love for cinema. Rated: 5/5 Mar 29, 2025 Full Review Alan Pergament Buffalo News The enjoyment level will entirety depend on your tolerance level of Rogen’s repetitive acting style. Apr 10, 2025 Full Review Alejandro Alemán El Universal Shrewd and often as provocative as it is funny, The Studio is a critique that targets the system more than the people who operate it. [Full review in Spanish] Apr 8, 2025 Full Review Sarah Marrs Lainey Gossip The Studio is underpinned by a tangible sense of love and wonder for Hollywood, a sense that every movie is a miracle and to get to make movies, even in an imperfect system, is a wonderful thing in and of itself. Victoria P SUch a fun and funny show for anyone who knows the industry! Creative geniuses doing what they do best. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/16/25 Full Review Jonathan M Good performances by some of the actors, but we've seen all the slimy characters before, we've seen the "want to do art movies" before, and it's been done better before. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 04/16/25 Full Review John D First, let me admit that I've never been a fan of Seth Rogen, but I thought I'd give it a look anyway. Similar to other reviews I've read, I felt the first episode was funny enough to make me tune in again, even though I wasn't really interested in the premise of the show. The use of celebs appearing as themselves (a la 'Curb') does appeal to me. But, then, after viewing the third episode, I feel I'm ready to 'throw in the towel'. Traditionally, it takes several episodes for characters to develop... I don't see that happening yet (are 3 episodes enough?), and I just don't think it's funny. I don't mind the 'f-bombs' that others have frowned upon... Hell, Ted Lasso and Shrinking are full of obscenities, and I enjoyed watching those shows. Some evening, when there's absolutely nothing worth watching, maybe I'll tune in to episode 4 to see if there's any improvement. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 04/16/25 Full Review Kiki Y Not my cup of tea. A profanity-riddled, crass, stereotypical depiction of the entertainment industry. If you’re in the mood for over-the-top acting and watching people behave badly and purely out to self-interest then you might enjoy this. If you’re looking for a thought-provoking show that entertains on many levels and makes you want to tune in week after week… this ain’t it. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 04/16/25 Full Review Lesley C I enjoyed Episode One but that was it. Shouty, juvenile, broad basic humour. Only emotion I felt was extreme annoyance. Gave up halfway through episode 2. Vastly inferior copy of The Player. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 04/15/25 Full Review Michael O If I only watched the first episode, I would have given The Studio five stars. Unfortunately, I watched the second episode too...zero stars. The Martin Scorcese bit in the first episode was brilliant, The second episode was a disaster...writing, plot, acting...sucked. I am done. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 04/15/25 Full Review Read all reviews
