I was so anxious going into this season - I admit I had no idea how they were going to balance all the arcs they had begun without feeling rushed or dropping threads. But I shouldn't have worried, they pulled it off! It's a hard thing to pick what to change and what to keep - to cut as much as the medium necessitates without losing the threads of the story and its characters. But I'm continually amazed at how well this show is able to do so. WoT is arguably one of the hardest series of all time to adapt to a visual format, but I really think the team is doing an incredible job at keeping the spirit of the story along with the most crucial plot points, and doing justice to it's central characters. Each of the Emond's field crew shines in each of their arcs, as do the supporting cast. Moiraine and Lan are phenomenal as ever. The incredible Meera Syal is a true stand-out as Verin, she plays brilliantly off the rest of the cast in every scene. The other new cast (Aviendha, Elayne & Selene especially) are fantastically chosen as well, and I really enjoy Donal Finn's take on Mat - he feels perfect for the character. The Aiel were perfect - which really surprised me because there are so many ways that could have gone wrong. And I love that they kept the Seanchan Texan - I was worried it would sound goofy but somehow they made it delightfully creepy, 10/10. And the visuals have improved this season as well! I hope they continue to get enough budget to pull off the increasingly spectacular effects in future seasons. And that they get more episodes to work with in the future - I'm still amazed that they were able to fit so much in without dropping the character development, but it would be nice to have time to sit with more of the supporting cast as their roles grow more crucial!

How did Amazon assemble a team that can ruin an epic saga so completely? Everything that made the book series great has been removed or changed. They added a bunch of stuff that makes no sense while leaving out many scenes from the books that could have made the series amazing. CGI was poorly done. Storyline was poorly thought out. Many plot holes are left in the story. Character changes make the audience loose connection with their favorite characters form the books.

It must take an enormous amount of ego to assume that people want to see your interpretation of the thing they love. The fact is, the creators relied on the wot fan bases' loyalty to the source material to put up with the bad pacing but didn't reward us by showing anything like the story we wanted to see. In essence, this ain't rocket surgery: if you want to take a book and make it a show, then TAKE A BOOK AND MAKE IT A SHOW.

You're making a series of The wheel of time, and you had to go and ruin the whole book on your silly series! I bet Seasons 3 is going to suck it up too!

I absolutely loved this season! Where, as I can see the production issues that happened in the end result of season, one, right! I haven't felt these types of emotions watching a TV show since Game of Thrones first three seasons. I don't want to give spoilers, but if you felt like season, one, was "just OK" you really need to give season two and shot! The only reason I didn't give it a 45 stars as I could see you were people who have not read the books, may get lost. I think this is a fantastic adaptation where the liberties that it takes with the storyline, maintain the feeling and intent of the original source material. I can't wait for season three!

        greatly improved from season 1

Garbage. Couldn't get past the second episode. Not true to the source material in form or spirit.

      • Nov 13, 2023

No where near as good as the books , but it still grabs hold of you and the base story line is only slightly different to the books, i dont think it would have been possible to do everything like the books as this would be too tedious and boring on a tv show. looking forward to what season 3 brings , though i read there going to book 4 , hope there not going to scrap all of book 3, i loved the Dragon Reborn.

Big step forward from Season 1, the writers seem to be much braver in cutting much of the fat from the source material. They've kept Rand as irritating as ever - but he is incredibly annoying in the books so I can't be mad at that. New Mat is a great addition to the cast and adds a bit more energy to some of the moree mundane scenes. which matches the source material. The writers continue to invest time and effort into making the female characters more fully realised than Jordan ever did in his books, which is great to see. I'm really interested to see how they pull away from the source material in this regard, particularly the more problematic elements in Rand's love life All in all, the writers are continuing to do a solid job of extracting the compelling story from the book series without bringing the 10,000 pages of fat along with it. Season 1 was masterfully carried on solely on the shoulders of Rosamund Pike and her performance, Season 2 does still hinge on some clunky dialogue being delivered by talented performances - shout out to Meera Syal bringing Verin to mischievous life. I don't want to give too much away, but the antagonists really are fantastic in season 2 and bring out the very best of the source material

A step up from season one. And the cast it's as consistent as ever.
