      Critics Consensus

Mae Whitman and Carlos Valdes are a likable enough pair, but Up Here is let down by a thin story that knocks its melody off-key. Read critic reviews

SAY NO THANKS to THOSE VOICES IN YOUR HEAD THAT TELL YOU THAT YOU'RE NOT GOOD ENOUGH... I don't give away stars generously. Nope I hoard them and am normally super stingy with them. But...when something makes me smile in my heart and on my face like "Up Here", I've got to give credit where credit is due. Watch "Up Here". - it's got freakin' good songs...>>> excellent singers to sing 'em >>> wonderful premise (we all have vulnerabilities/ wounds that make us fear and stop us from being ourselves--- ugly and pretty aspects) - It also has great writing and wonderful acting. I love Carlos Valdes. He's got this sweetness, realness, and sexiness. Go Cisco and now MIguel! And Mae Whitman is a terrific as well. Season 2 pls. More shows like this pls and thank you. -

I ugly laughed through the whole thing. "Up Here" is refreshingly blunt, hilarious, and full of awkwardly cringy yet painfully relatable scenes. The music is wonderfully entertaining and the chronography in the background was visually fun and pleasing. This show really engages it's audience and keeps you interested from moment to moment and invested in the main characters. Carlos and Katie (playing Miguel and Lindsay) portray such powerful emotions and the connection between two lonely human beings trying to find their place in the world and learn who they are and what they want out of life. 11/10 definitely reccomend and will be watching it again and again!

OK, I'll start by saying the script isn't necessarily 5🌟. That said, the story is engaging. The silliness of some of the story line, imho, is a satire of the absolute lunacy of the issues that occur to all of us in life and in relationships. The show is light and fun, plus turning it to musical numbers and/or battles with the voices inside our heads really makes this show A Blast ! I truly hope it's renewed. Very well executed and so much fun 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

A fresh, entertaining series with some very cool songs! I love the fact that it highlights a sensitive male lead - very sweet and a wonderful contribution to the high sensitive awareness movement.

I'm always a sucker for musicals! Such a great successor to shows like Crazy Ex Girlfriend and Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist. So well done, it made me feel like I was watching a Broadway musical with each number, and the main characters were so entirely relatable. Hoping for more!

I actually really like the mental health play and the nod to attachment wounds. I liked the actors and the music wasn't bad. Some songs were good and some didn't do it for me. I just wish the storyline was stronger.

This show was sweet and complicated and so much fun to watch! The leads are charming, the music is great, and the voices messing up everyone's headspace are truly relatable. Let's go Season 2!

So this is my first review on Rotten Tomatoes and I'm writing it because I really want this show to get a season 2. It's a show that gives you goosebumps and makes you smile as you go along for the ride. It's cheesy, romantic, great music, and I love the 90s nostalgia. Yes, critics are giving it bad reviews. But unless a show is about superheros, zombies, true crime, Star Wars, or a remake of an old show, people don't like it. The actors have great chemistry and are relatable. It's so much fun watching them trying to get to know each other while fighting their inner voices. I could easily rewatch it. This is just a great, romantic, feel good show. We need more of this on TV.

This show is a gem with two leads that shine through their awkward habits. Carlos Valdes and Mae Whitman have excellent chemistry and are a joy to watch fall for each other. The songs really begin to shine in episode 4 and the back half of the season is even stronger than the exposition which tells you so much about the inner workings of each characters' mind. If you feel like it gets off to a slow start just watch through the midseason finale (ep 4/8) - you'll be hooked, I promise.

I adore and love Mae Withman but this show sucks, from bad writing to music. She's better than this show..
