In this live-action film based on the favorite children's tale, the trouble-making Cat in the Hat (Mike Myers) arrives at the home of bored young Sally Walden (Dakota Fanning) and her brother, Conrad (Spencer Breslin), while their mother (Kelly Preston) is out. The family's pet fish (Sean Hayes) objects to the Cat's presence, but that doesn't stop the hat-wearing giant feline from trying to have fun, no matter how much destruction is left in his wake.

Hat absolutely insane, but too long Rated 4 out of 5 stars 04/21/23 Full Review David M Adapting Dr Seuss is really hard, to the extent that it's tempting to wonder why anyone would try. The genius of the well-loved books is almost unique to the original medium, and it's hard to see how this translates to film. However you view this adaptation, however, it can't be described as anything other than appalling. Michael Myers is wasted, and it's hard to even see it with kind eyes and assume good intentions here given the handful of genuinely tasteless and inappropriate jokes in a supposedly family film. It lacks any wit, the visuals are terrible, it is devoid of charm, and all attempts at weirdness fall-flat. An embarrassment for all involved. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 06/17/25 Full Review Andy C I’m not exactly sure what I watched. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/10/25 Full Review Pepe P Yeah this movie is freaking awesome the best movie i ever seen. when I was 40 years i was living in a cave close to Minnesota and I found a blue ray of this movie I put in my electronic box with images machine and I realy like that movie so I watch 56 times, but I never watch another movie so… Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/08/25 Full Review K G The review I am posting will shock you - it is one of my favourite movies! My favourite part of it is the humour, like the almost swearing moments - innuendo & adult tends to be my favourite type of humour. They were also on point with the colours used (like chalk coloured Ford Focus cars & the colour of the cat & his items) which showed they were putting the whimsical charm of what was originally saw of it. It teaches bravery when siblings, Conrad & Sally, held hands saying that it was their fault that the house was made a mother of all messes with Cat ready to face consequences in case their mother sees it, causing her to lose her job. What we say about it is that the movie is so bad, it is good! Since it developed a cult & memes following (proud to be a part of it). It is sad that Audrey Giesel did not want more live action adaptations (although the animated movies were still great). Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/05/25 Full Review jude h this is absolute cinema 10/10 i would recommend to a younger audience Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/03/25 Full Review Read all reviews
