A bad American film goes over better than a bad French film. King Richard and the Crusaders confirms this. A childish scenario, simplistic dialogues. Who cares, since the rhythm does not falter, since the color is gay and the scenario correct?

King Richard and the Crusaders is a disappointing film. It is about King Richard Lionheart battles treachery in his own camp while leading the third crusade. Rex Harrison and Virginia Mayo gave terrible performances. The screenplay is badly written. David Butler did a terrible job directing this movie. I was not impressed with this motion picture.

At times laughable Crusades drama. Harvey and Virginia Mayo in particular seem to be playing to the back balcony. Beautiful color and high production values help but this is definitely not a lost classic.
