Outer Banks

The show is captivating for sure; the first season does a good job at establishing the characters. Albiet JJ had a rough introduction; some of the plot lines didn't get fleshed out. The show made up for it in its evolving overarching plot, it felt like natural development despite some of it clearly not being realistic. The suspension of disbelief (willing to engage with the stories unrealistic plot due to it being entertaining) is executed nicely. Keeps the show bingeable right to the finale that left me shocked.

The most unrealistic, in-cohesive, stretched out, teenage soap opera I've seen. Most parts you can just fast forward several times without anything changing. There is zero logic to story lines, no proper character development, unresolved situations that disappear, while clones of the same situations appear. At some point you find yourself screaming at the screen and stop watching due to its repetitiveness and redundancy. Im not sure who left roaring reviews. I assume people under 18. Literally feels like 13 yrs old kids wrote and produced it. Some actors are good, so I'm sure they were not happy about their characters being such dull tools in the shed. It's like they tried to make it as bad as they could and get away with it. Save your sanity and time.

Yes its a far fetched, melodramatic, teen adventure with teens that don't look like teens, and that did put me off it for a while, but when it reaches its second half it becomes a fun, high-octane action treasure hunt that is very bingeable. Does take itself too seriously, sometimes that benefits the drama other times its cheesy but overall, the first outing of Outer Banks takes a while to set off, but once it does it kind of eases you into loving it and now I can't wait to dive into the next season.

Season 1 was such breeze of fresh air, please watch it as a standalone limited series or “episodic movie”, enjoy and just keep guessing what happens after the ending. Don’t touch seasons 2, 3 and 4.

This is silly and boring in my opinion. I simply cannot take the “mystery” of this series seriously. It was better off as a comedy about pirates hunting for treasure. The characters are incredible dumb and are always making dumb decisions. The story is full of plot holes. And can Netflix only hire grown adult actors for teenage characters? The only thing I liked in the show is the action. Those action scenes are well-crafted.
