Set against a sweeping Cornish landscape, two couples discover that their toddlers were switched at birth in a hospital mix-up, and face a horrifying dilemma: do they keep the sons they have raised and loved, or reclaim their biological child? Living a waking nightmare, Pete and Maddie are jettisoned into the world of the other couple; Miles and Lucy. At first it seems all four are agreed on a solution, but it soon becomes clear that hidden motives are at play. How far can each couple trust the real parents of their child – or even each other? As Pete and Maddie are stretched to breaking point, they realise they will stop at nothing to keep their family together.

Geordie Gray The Australian Playing Nice...aims to be both a high-stakes psychological thriller and an ethical quandary for the ages — but lands on neither. Jan 31, 2025 Full Review Ben Dowell The Times (UK) Despite the extreme, nerve-shredding premise this drama also neatly captured the polite games middle-class couples play. Rated: 4/5 Jan 27, 2025 Full Review Dan Einav Financial Times What follows is an increasingly implausible if effectively queasy thriller shaped more by one man’s sociopathy than broader sociological insight. Rated: 2/5 Jan 16, 2025 Full Review Janet A. Leigh Digital Spy Ultimately, expect an enjoyably aggravating watch that never lets up on the tension as it delivers blow after blow for those you become deeply invested in. Rated: 5/5 Mar 6, 2025 Full Review Alison Rowat The Herald (Scotland) Too far-fetched was the gist of the complaints. That’s drama for you, full of people making stuff up. I’d go with “enjoyably schlocky” myself. Jan 25, 2025 Full Review Barbara Ellen Observer (UK) A plot so convoluted that belief has to be suspended from the tastefully distressed rafters. Elissa W Love it! Great suspense and interesting story that makes you wonder what you would do if in the same situation. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/18/25 Full Review Sarah W Terrible plot. Terrible acting. I agree with the guardian. ‘…brazenly ludicrous TV thriller has its place. Sometimes it’s fun to throw all logic and sense to the wind and surrender to a bananas plot whose twists and turns – which play out amid huge, aspirationally spotless homes and gorgeous vistas – are so entertaining and hilariously camp’ Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/26/25 Full Review Henrik H I felt that James Norton's character could have been developed better. As a journalist, he could have uncovered more evidence against Miles, making him face his own medicine. Instead, the ending fell flat, leaving no real sense of justice or satisfaction for the anger one felt towards Miles. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/22/25 Full Review Jon H I lost count of the number of “that would never happen” moments. A stellar cast would seem to have set their professional integrity to one side for this drivel. Nice scenery gives way to an entirely implausible set of events. What a shame. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/22/25 Full Review Andrei D The premise is dark and heavy but the action aims more for soap and big emotional scenes, with limited grounding Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/08/25 Full Review Bo L Decided to binge watch on Sunday and have to say it was the worst thing I've watched in a long time. Norton's accent was all over the place, posh one minute and Cornish the next however the script was laughable and leads me to wonder is it the book or the adaption to screen? That being said I will never read the book as it's not my genre so I will be avoiding anything written by Grace Ofori-Attah. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/06/25 Full Review Read all reviews
