Rachel Cooke New Statesman Is The English a masterpiece? I’m not sure. But it’s certainly like nothing else I’ve ever seen, its script a perfect illustration of the maxim that an artist does not need to be credible if he is convincing. Annette W Absolutely amazing, gripping and heart rending show. I loved every second of it, all the Actors were amazing and I fell in love with Eli. I was sad that he and Cordelia didn't ride off into the sunset, not the ending I would wish for two tortured souls with lives full of grief but it was still Absolutely fantastic. Instead of dance numbers, we get death songs and much too long horse rides. It has the most ill-conceived flashbacks I've ever seen. Good luck tracking which time period you are seeing. The acting is is quite good as well, Chaske Spencer's portrayal of the Pawnee Indian Whipp should be appreciated. The series falls down with the plot and the pacing. There are characters who don't sense, and the story zig and zags in strange and unnecessary directions. Oh...yeah he died in a flood. Huh?
