Albert Lamorisse
Director of acclaimed short fantasy films, notably "The Red Balloon" (1956), who made an unsuccessful foray into features in the 1960s. Lamorisse also invented Helivision, an apparatus enabling filming from a helicopter; he was unfortunately killed in a helicopter crash while filming "Le Vent des amoureux" in Iran in 1970. The film was completed by his widow and released eight years later.
