Elena López Riera
Before even amounting a single film credit to her name, Elena López Riera stood out as an authority on the cinema. She gathered multiple degrees in subjects pertaining to media, taught about story at the university level, published a number of writings on film, and even co-founded her own production company. By the time she mounted her first solo project "Pueblo" (2015), López Riera was already practically a veteran of the industry. Elena López Riera was born in 1982 in Orihuela, Spain. Before asserting herself as a talented filmmaker, López Riera impressed in the academic circuit, gaining a master's degree in new media and communication, a doctorate in audiovisuals, teaching comparative literature at the University of Geneva, and publishing numerous texts and articles on the subject of film. Additionally, in 2009, López Riera co-founded the media research collective Lacasinegra. With Lacasinegra, López Riera co-directed the documentary film "Pas à Genève" (2014), itself a chronicling of the immersion of oneself in the process of film. López Riera followed this project with "Pueblo" (2015), a short film illustrating the position of religion in an economically suffering Spain. López Riera's "Pueblo" made its debut at the 68th Annual Cannes Film Festival.
