Helene Foubert
Having trained at the Conservatoire National and the Cours Florent, Helene Foubert won the prestigious Prix Michel Simon in 1993 for her debut performance in "Antonio's Girlfriend" as Claudie, the prickly mixed race kook who is helped to come to terms with her troubled past by Catalan builder Sergi López. She reteamed with Peruvian-born director Manuel Poirier on the childhood drama "Marion" and the road movie "Western" and has since made a habit of working regularly with trusted directors. In the theatre, she has several credits with Florence Giorgetti, while on television she has collaborated frequently with Serge Meynard and Stéphane Kurc, who also directed her in the psychoanalysis comedy "Man of My Life." Foubert has mostly had to settle for supporting roles in pictures like the French Revolutionary love story "Germain et Benjamin," the comedy of marital manners "Pour rire!," the 1970s-set sibling crime drama "Rivals" and the wartime coming-of-age saga "Nos résistances." However, she has taken the lead in several shorts, winning the Best Actress Award at the 2003 Festival Côté Court for "Word of Mouth" and directing herself in "Letter to Santa Claus," as the mother of a five year-old boy whose Christmas is spoiled by policemen conducting a security search in the wake of 9/11.
