Leftist theoretician and critic (Montagu accompanied Eisenstein on his 1930 trip to Hollywood) who also worked as an exhibitor, editor and director of short films. Montagu collaborated on a number of Hitchcock films during the 1930s and made propaganda films for the Republicans during the Spanish Civil War (he documented the experience in his 1939 film, "Peace and Plenty").
