Jean Beaudry
Jean Beaudry was a Canadian director and screenwriter whose best known works were "Jacques et novembre" (1984), "Les matins infidèles" (1988), and "La gang des hors-la-loi" (2014). Beaudry was a native of Quebec, born in the city of Trois-Rivères in 1947. Beaudry made his debut as an actor in 1975 in the film "La maison qui empêche de voir la ville." In 1984, he starred in his directorial and screenwriting debut alongside François Bouvier in "Jacques et novembre." A pseudo-documentary, "Jacques et novembre" was about a young man who suffered from an incurable disease. Beaudry and Bouvier collaborated again a few years later in "Les matins infidèles," a film that focused on the troubled relationship between two friends. After "Les matins infidèles," Beaudry worked solo on his next three projects. The first two were children's films titled "Pas de répit pour Mèlanie" (1990) and "Tirelire Combines & Cie" (1992). In 1996, Beaudry returned to cinema with "Le cri de la nuit" ("A Cry in the Night"). Once again written and directed by Beaudry, "Le cri de la nuit" was hardly noticed upon its release and for nearly twenty years after its release he did not work on any films. However, Beaudry finally returned to filmmaking with another children's movie, a family drama about a grandfather bonding with his grandson. Titled "La gang des hors-la-loi," the film premiered at Zlín Film Festival in June 2014.
