Julie Perreault

A luminous actress, Julie Perreault proved equally adept at playing comedy and drama. Born June 6, 1976 in Saint-Jean-Chrysostome, Québec, Canada, Julie Perreault studied at the Conservatoire d'art dramatique de Montréal, where she earned valuable stage training in various theatrical productions. After small roles in projects like "Horloge biologique" (2005), she achieved stardom on two acclaimed and influential television programs. Revealing a flair for comedy on the sitcom "3 x rien" (TQS, 2003-06), the actress played the wry female pal of three male comedian buddies attempting to gracefully enter their thirties. Her most famous role, however, came as Fanny Compagnolo, a naïve, Italian-Canadian attempting to become a big-time businesswoman by taking over several nightclubs in "Minuit, le soir" (Radio-Canada, 2005-07), the tale of her three main bouncers. Lovable despite (or perhaps because of) her many flaws and self-doubts, Perreault's Fanny won over audiences and critics, and she earned three Best Actress Gémeaux nominations. When the series ended, Perreault returned to the big screen to score a Best Supporting Actress Jutra nomination for her role as a policewoman in "Les 3 p'tits cochons" (2007). Although she continued to work steadily in theater and began a rewarding side career as a photographer, Perreault remained a familiar screen presence with roles on "Les soeurs Elliot" (TVA, 2007-08) as the shy sister of a cooking show hostess and "19-2" (Radio-Canada, 2011- ), where she played a detective.
