Keith Chegwin
English entertainer Keith Chegwin, born and raised in Liverpool, wasted no time trying to win the hearts and laughs from everyone around him as a child. At the age of nine he was already winning over crowds with his impersonations and singing. While still a youth he joined the singing group The Happy Wanderers and later started his own group with his brother and sister called The Chegwins. In the late 1960s, Chegwin started working in feature films and doing commercials as well. In regards to film work, his most notable parts were starring as Egghead Wentworth in the comedies "The Troublesome Double" and "Egghead's Robot," and he also had smaller parts in an episode of "Doomwatch" (now lost) and in Roman Polanski's broodingly dark "The Tragedy of Macbeth," where he played the character of Fleance. In the 1970s, Chegwin began a series of hosting duties on various television programs, including "Swap Shop," "Sale of the Century," and "Get it Together." He also hosted a number of radio programs, including the hit show "Cheggers Plays Pop," a sort of "Top of the Pops" for the Manchester crowd. During the 1970s he was also for a time a member of the glam rock band Kenny. Like all long-running performers, his career hit snags (hosting the notorious "Naked Jungle" game show in 2000 was a major blunder), but Chegwin stayed perpetually busy entertaining. In 2011, he co-starred as himself in the comedy horror movie "Kill Keith."
