Louis Delluc
An influential early film enthusiast who wrote for and edited various journals and helped start the French cine-club movement, Delluc made several well-regarded films including "Le silence" (1920) and the highly atmospheric "Fievre" (1921), both starring his Belgian wife Eve Francis. He also was a key figure of the Impressionist school which also included Jean Epstein and Germaine Dulac and is equally distinguished for his books on the cinema, including "Charlot/Charlie Chaplin" (1921) and "Photogenie" (1920). Delluc died of tuberculosis at the age of 33. The Prix Louis Delluc is awarded annually to an outstanding French feature film.
