Marie-France Santon
A prolific stage performer with over 60 theatrical credits to her name, Marie-France Santon has also made a name for herself in French cinema and television. Her film career began in 1974, just one year after her stage debut, with the rousing adventure film "The Superb Trip," which was co-written by her writer-director husband and frequent collaborator, Régis Santon. Through the decades, Marie-France Santon has managed to balance equally her stage and screen appearances, consistently working in both mediums. One of Santon's more notable film roles was as Madame Laville in the 1992 musical comedy "La Crise." She is also well-known for playing the role of Baronne de Mantes in 2005's "Never Say Never!," a comedy about an alcoholic gambler in 1830s Paris who bets his uncle that he can get a young baroness to fall in love with him in under 24 hours. French television viewers will recognize Santon from her portrayal of Georgette in the 2007 TV movie "Épuration" and of a landlady in the 19th-century TV movie "Mystére au Moulin Rouge." Remarkably, for her work on the stage, Santon has been nominated three times for a Moliére Award for Best Supporting Actress.
