Nelly Kaplan
Worked as Abel Gance's assistant and collaborator from 1954, going on to direct shorts, an acclaimed medium-length effort, "Le Regard Picasso" (1967), and feature films. Among her several books is "Le Sunlight d'Austerlitz," on the making of Gance's "Austerlitz" (1960). Kaplan's work embraces paradox and contradiction and is driven by a feminist sensibility.
