Character actor Óscar Zafra made his film debut in 1989 with a supporting role in the Mexican comedy "Si me las dan me las tomo," but it would be six years before he broke into television with a one-off on the Spanish office sitcom "Los ladrones van a la oficina." Not long after, he earned his first noteworthy role, becoming a series regular on the heralded Spanish family-comedy "Querido maestro." Once it wrapped in 1998, Zafra found work in various Spanish television dramas, including several appearances on the short-lived courtroom drama "Lobos" and a recurring role as Enrique on the long-running medical drama "Hospital Central." Then in 2009, Zafra garnered international attention thanks to his role as SWAT team leader Jefe in "[Rec] 2." This was a sequel to the hit zombie horror feature "[Rec]," which starred Spanish television personality Manuela Velasco as a TV reporter trapped in a quarantined building with infected, flesh-eating undead. In "[Rec] 2," Zafra's Jefe is a part of a government-ordered team sent into this treacherous terrain to secure a blood sample that might unlock a cure to the malicious disease. Like its predecessor, "[Rec] 2" was a rousing success with critics and genre fans across the globe, urging producers to release "[REC]3 Génesis" in 2012. Zafra did not return for the third film in the franchise and instead went to television with a recurring role on the historical drama "14 de abril. La República."
