Rafaël Ouellet

Born and raised in Dégelis, a city in eastern Quebec, Rafaël Ouellet was a director, editor, and producer. From 2003 to 2004 he directed the TV series "La Groulx Luxe," a comedy variety show hosted by Patrick Groulx, comprised of silly, spur-of-the-moment sketches. In 2005, Ouellet directed episodes of the Canadian crime procedural non-fiction series "Canadian Case Files." In addition to his work in television, Ouellet also directed hundreds of hours of concert footage, including the DVD for "Our Lady Peace: Live in Alberta" (2003), and "Our Lady Peace: Decade" (2010). In 2007 Ouellet directed a feature film, "Mona's Daughters." The film tells the story of two sisters who return to live in their family's home after the passing of their mother, and despite their differences, find a connection through their mother's music. In 2008 Ouellet directed "Behind Me," about a young woman who travels to a small town and befriends a local teenager who is impressed by her worldliness and experience. In 2012 Ouellet's film "Truck" explored the life of a trucker who sinks into a depression after accidentally killing a woman. The film was awarded the Best Director prize at 47th Karlovy Vary International Film Festival in Czech Republic. In addition to his continuing film work, between 2014 and 2015, Ouellet directed 12 episodes of the French-Canadian TV series "Nouvelle adressse."
