Robert Ellis
Robert Ellis worked on a variety of projects during his entertainment career. In his early acting career, Ellis appeared in such films as "The Flame of Life" (1923), "The Law Forbids" (1924) and "Lover's Lane" (1924). He also appeared in "The Girl From Montmartre" (1926) and "Ragtime" (1927). His film career continued throughout the thirties in productions like the Regis Toomey mystery "The Penal Code" (1932), the mystery "The Phantom Express" (1932) with J Farrell MacDonald and "White Eagle" (1932) with Buck Jones. He also appeared in the mystery "The Sphinx" (1933) with Lionel Atwill. Nearing the end of his career, Ellis wrote "Off to the Races" (1937), "Down on the Farm" (1938) with Jed Prouty and "A Trip to Paris" (1938). He also appeared in the comedy "Love on a Budget" (1938) with Jed Prouty and the Sidney Toler mystery adaptation "Charlie Chan in City in Darkness" (1939). Ellis last wrote the musical "I'll Get By" (1950) with June Haver. Ellis passed away in December 1974 at the age of 82.
