Star Slade
With her effervescent screen presence, Star Slade was best known for her role on the Canadian crime drama series "Burden of Truth" (CBC, 2017-). Born in Edmonton, Ontario in 1999, Slade took an interest in performing from a very early age. She began studying ballet at age seven, and was soon participating in youth drama programs, appearing in plays at the Lindsay Little Theatre. She would remain active on stage for years to come as a member of several dance collectives, exploring a variety of artistic styles. Slade made her TV debut on the series "Emerald Code" (YTV, 2017), acting alongside her real life best friend Anwen O'Driscoll, whom she originally met at Lindsay Little Theatre, where the two shared the role of Wendy in the theater's original play, "Forgotten." The pair's comradery came in handy when, in the midst of the series' marathon production, they were asked to switch roles. Slade's next opportunity in the TV sphere would come later that same year, when she was able to celebrate her First Nations heritage playing the native girl Minno on the period series "Frontier" (Discovery, 2016-) with Jason Momoa. The following year, she was cast as Luna Spence on "Burden of Truth."
