It is dead serious in its unseriousness, and makes a meal out of these outlandish garnishes. Its sophomore outing proves once again that Science SARU is the rare studio that can spin art from the insane. Go to Full Review

MB C @MB.Cinema Dec 22 Season two of Dandadan dives straight into chaos, blending horror, absurd comedy, and romance without apology.....Okarun and Momo face the tragic Evil Eye curse, giving the season its strongest emotional backbone.....The screenplay embraces "organized madness," prioritizing feeling and shock over classical structure.....While the Evil Eye arc is rich and human, the sudden kaiju escalation feels intentionally wild but uneven.....Character relationships especially Okarun and Momo anchor the insanity with genuine warmth....Messy, daring, and emotionally sharper than before, it stumbles in pacing but shines in ambition...... See more Thea C Dec 19 dan da dan is gross in the way that most anime is, but it is beautiful, surreal, and postmodern as heck. it is full of texture and transgression and people who cannot help projecting their internal world onto the external world. and the moral of the story is always collective action See more Kyle E @Plady Nov 9 Another great season in this fantastic series See more Andrés B Sep 25 Dandadan is truly one of the best works in recent times. From the tiniest detail in animation and color, to the way it makes you cry exactly when it wants you to—it can make you feel whatever the author intends, without falling into the trap of standardizing how things unfold. That heartbreaking backstory we got was a one-time blow, and nothing like it has happened since. The way the group develops their personalities and powers is also unique in every case, making the whole journey feel organic and unpredictable—you never know if it’s going to lean into action, comedy, mystery, or drama. But best of all, despite all the battles and intense action, what really keeps us hooked is the slow-burn romance between the protagonists. See more Ash P @AshParth Sep 18 We have waited for the arrival of the second season of DanDaDan ever since the cliffhanger we'd left from the last season. We even had the DanDaDan: Evil Eye movie, which also ended on a cliffhanger. I already reviewed the movie if you want to check it out. I'm gonna try my hardest not to spoil too much on the story. But just in case, be forewarned. So the cliffhanger from the last season picks up when Okarun and Momo visit Jiji's cursed house only to discover that there is a secret room was stored where the Kito family do their rituals as offerings to their god, which was rumored to be a Tsushinoko as Momo went off on her own to explore the town Jiji resides in. Instead, it was a UMA called the Mongolian death worm. There is more to the Kito family, but I will not say much about them nor the other character that I will mention in the next paragraph. As Okarun, Momo, and even Jiji get thrown into the pit along with the Kito family, they had discovered that the yokai that was stalking Jiji is known as Jashi, or Evil Eye. Therefore, Jiji, along with us, the audience, learned more about the Evil Eye and said that he would play with him. In the process of being possessed into just a malicious badass who fights in his whitey tighties. I'm not kidding, that's how the Evil Eye fights. Down the road throughout the Evil Eye Arc, Jiji does commit to taking full control despite the protest of Manjiro exorcising Evil Eye out of Jiji by one of the best heavy metal moments ever, which Seiko actually agrees with. It works thanks to Okarun improving himself by the rhythm of his Turbo Granny powers thanks to what Turbo Granny was teaching him before convincing Evil Eye to behave. With that mess out of the way as well as getting Seiko and Momo's house fixed via help from the Mantis Shrimp who now calls himself Peeny-Weeny and a friend of his, everything is all better now, right? Well, we now head into a new arc involving a new character named Kinta Sakata, who is more of a science fiction geek who approaches Okarun on how to hook up with pretty girls as he'd witnessed the accidental kiss Okarun and Momo had exchanged. Funny thing is that it was in a flashback when that scene was played again but with Kinta included. Kinda follows Okarun and Momo to an apartment complex where they thought another one of Okarun's golden family jewels was spotted via a sighting on some internet news page. Kinda pesters Okarun and Momo on specific advice until what came to be a UMA known as a Kaiju using optic camouflage thanks to Kinta's knowledge of science fiction. With that, they used the Ayase household to combat the Kaiju. How? Nanoskin technology that Peeny-Weeny and his friend had given them. The fight ended and we ended on another cliffhanger that I won't share. We know that it will pick up in the third season. Yeah, not next year, according to some news that it might come around 2027 instead of 2026. To be fair, Science SARU is gonna be busy with other projects next year such as Sanda and their version of Ghost in the Shell. I respect them for what they wanted to do as long as they don't push themselves, their writers and their animators through crunch time. At least I have all of the manga and I will give them a read so I look forward to what to expect like I do with Chainsaw Man and Spy x Family. They just need to take their time to cook, that's all I want from them. Now I've laid out the story with as minimal of spoilers as I can. How is the story paced? Very well, actually. I love how they had to take their time between the Evil Eye and the Kaiju Arcs as well as have a bit of breathing room. Such as seeing Okaru and Momo becoming a little closer than they were in the last season. I mean, who wouldn't ship these two. I give them credit to having less on the sexual innuendos because like I agree with most folks, they are awkward. Especially when they are under the age of consent. They were mostly at the start of the season and better that than throughout the whole season because what I do care most is seeing Okarun, Momo and friends fighting off aliens, yokai, and just chilling out like a misfit family under the Ayase household. Therefore, bringing in more of the character chemistry between one another. As speaking of the characters, Jiji became more likable as he evolved as a character. Sure, he is still a goofy goober and he has that Ranma 1/2 plot device when it comes to hot/cold water. If you know, you know. Same goes for Evil Eye ever since his fight with Okarun who improved himself in his Turbo Granny yokai form. Sure, Momo and Aira do go at each others' throats, but that's mainly because of Okarun. At least they would set aside their differences to handle whatever situation they are in. Therefore, improving their bond as frenemies. We get Kinta's introduction being a needy character until we get into the Kaiju fight and he's grown on me a little. Just needs more time to grow once season three rolls around. The voice cast are still impressive along with the newcomers. For Kinta, you have Daichi Fujiwara in Japanese and Bryce Papenbrook in English. I was skeptical about Bryce voicing Kinta at first until I've grown to enjoy the voicing. Bryce is a good voice actor. It's just that he isn't one of my favorites. I do give him credit that Bryce voices Kinta like your average Discord mod with a bit of egotism yet has self-esteem and his knowledge of science fiction as equally as Daichi voices Kinta to be, and it works. Majiro is a good character for being Seiko's pupil during the Evil Eye Arc. The Hayashi, the heavy metal exorcist band, believe it or not, are awesome. They actually sing in both Japanese and English. One of the English voice actors is Marc Hudson, the lead singer of DragonForce, of all people and he is awesome for both the voice acting and singing in the English version of Hunting Soul. Makes me feel like I was in high school again. The rest of the band members are voiced by Xander Mobus and Sean Chiplock for English. For the Japanese, you have Kisho Taniyama, Genta Nakamura and Kazuaki Furuta. Fun fact: The Hayashi are modeled after the band group called X Japan, a Japanese rock band, and the characters are named after four of its members. Rock and roll comes in all shape and form like hip-hop and jazz, as a music lover myself would say. The animation itself is a Hugh improvement when it comes to the characters, the comedy and the action. Science SARU deserves a bouquet of roses for all the hard work they've put into this anime. They have me two-for-two with DanDaDan and I expect the third season will put me on three-for-three. Granted, not every joke works. Yet only a few of those have happened to me since both Japanese and English have kept me laughing on many occasions while enjoying the action and the quality breather moments with these characters. Certainly an improvement from the last season. Therefore, I will give season two ten Chiquitita drinking milk out of ten. 10/10. Yes, Peeny-Weeny has a son and it was either that or the head of the Kito family doing the Jennifer Lopez Anaconda on Momo. But we know we wanna end it on a good note, right?
