Also the setting is distracting from the story, I had to pause mid series to google where it was filmed as it’s so clearly not in England. The police force basically has 2 or 3 people?! The victim and defendant have a prison visit pretrial with basically no one else of authority in the room?! It is difficult and risky to create an entertaining series from such a tragic and all-too-real epidemic, yet Girl Taken succeeds in striking a careful balance between compelling drama and harsh truth. I disagree with the negative reviews concerning the reported issues with the acting, pacing, setting, contrivances, and plot holes. This series arced in the only way it could and remained steadily interesting and engaging until the very end. It was dark and demented without being depressing and hopeless, which is what allowed viewers to keep watching despite the uncomfortable and unsettling premise. The setting was ideal because there is no possible way the viewers could have tolerated this storyline cloaked in constant rain. Lastly, Hansen was one of the most despicable villains I've seen to date, so nothing was off the table in terms of how the resolution could have been orchestrated.
