James Franco plays the role of Jake Epping, an ordinary high school teacher, who is presented with a chance to change history. When a longtime friend (Chris Cooper) shows Jake how to travel back in time, he tasks Jake with a mission he has been trying in vain to complete: stopping the assassination of John F. Kennedy on Nov. 22, 1963, and solving one of the biggest mysteries of the 20th century. Jake quickly learns that the past does not want to be changed, and that his attempts to divert the course of history can quickly turn dangerous.

Though the execution feels almost as dated as the period it represents, 11.22.63 gradually reveals a compelling, well-performed series of events.

The finale is beautifully done and beautifully carried by Mr. Franco, thought-provoking and heartbreaking at once. Go to Full Review

11.22.63 is just here to entertain. And that's fine! But if the series wanted us to look past some truly awful things Jake does in the name of changing the past, it should've clarified what it wanted us to think of its protagonist. Go to Full Review
Alison Herman Flavorwire 08/11/2017
It's not a bad goal for the social good-minded time traveller, or more importantly to the matter at hand, a bad premise for a flashy miniseries designed to get attention. Go to Full Review
Brad Miska Bloody Disgusting 01/16/2020
While "11.22.53" never really reaches the level of craftsmanship of "House of Cards" or "The Man In the High Castle," it makes up for it in it's immense "can't stop watching" entertainment value. Go to Full Review
Bryan Bishop The Verge 01/16/2020
The pilot was an absolute home run, setting up a slate of fascinating characters with complex dynamics and a world of opportunity. Go to Full Review

Despite its occasional clumsiness, 11.22.63 is an entertaining effort. Go to Full Review

Darren C 4h Wasn't this basically an episode of Quantum Leap which they actually did do in that series? See more Anna M L Dec 24 Love this, watch the entire episode in one day. Binge watching worthy. I will read the book soon See more Dave C Sep 21 A brilliant mini-series! Have purchased the audiobook on the strength of it. I thoroughly enjoyed JF in this... I cannot think of anything else he's done that I've enjoyed anywhere near as much as this (possible 127 Hours; Milk; Rise of the Planet of the Apes... The Disaster Artist and In The Valley Of Elah require rewatches). Admittedly, the start as well as the penultimate one or two episodes seem to rush things, but the overall story is strong See more Stephen C Jul 27 One of the best and well written movies that I have seen in a very long time. Just when I thought the movie was ending on an abrupt end, the movie continued the story with an absolutely brilliant and beautiful ending! See more Christopher R @SouthpawLi May 29 I recently saw this show recommended on an Instagram post from a film critic about their top ten mini series. Much like all of us, starting a show with multiple seasons is just kind of a bit daunting nowadays so mini series are right up my alley. Needless to say as a bit of a history buff and sci fi fan I thought hey this looks like an interesting concept. Me being the uncultured reader I am had no idea this was apparently an all time great Stephen King book. Found that out after finishing the show. I started and finished this show in two sittings. It’s just that good. It’s been about a month since I finished the show and yet I still can’t help but think about it every single day. But surprisingly it isn’t for any of the reasons I went into the show excited about. The love story in this show is so absolutely flawless that it just makes you question everything you’ve ever known or thought you knew about a love story. The story just did a number on my emotions and I couldn’t help but look up anything and everything I could about this show after finishing it. To no surprise I found everyone else before me expressing the same notions. I almost feel like I have a before and after this show version of myself in terms of life perspective. I truly can not express how much I enjoyed this show. I actually made an account simply to write a review for this show to show my gratitude to all those who played a part in bringing this to life. One day maybe soon or maybe one day when I’m gone I hope someone else stumbles across this page, sees these reviews, watches this series, and will understand why all of us adore this timeless gem. See more Rene C May 24 This romp is wildly entertaining. The buy in in the first episode seemed rather weak, Jake should have had a much more exaggerated reaction, but this is time travel, so we all forgive that. I wasn't expecting this sci-fi thriller to turn into a chick-flick buy it definitely does - all the way to the end. Most people like time-travel flicks because they are so outlandish, but we all time-travel whenever we lay our heads down to sleep. I wouldn't try and read anything into it. It takes a lot of twists and turns and Jake is an unreliable narrator. The production over-the-top excellent, acting great and Franco has the chops to carry this outlandish tale to the finish line.
