James Franco plays the role of Jake Epping, an ordinary high school teacher, who is presented with a chance to change history. When a longtime friend (Chris Cooper) shows Jake how to travel back in time, he tasks Jake with a mission he has been trying in vain to complete: stopping the assassination of John F. Kennedy on Nov. 22, 1963, and solving one of the biggest mysteries of the 20th century. Jake quickly learns that the past does not want to be changed, and that his attempts to divert the course of history can quickly turn dangerous.

Though the execution feels almost as dated as the period it represents, 11.22.63 gradually reveals a compelling, well-performed series of events.

The finale is beautifully done and beautifully carried by Mr. Franco, thought-provoking and heartbreaking at once. Go to Full Review

11.22.63 is just here to entertain. And that's fine! But if the series wanted us to look past some truly awful things Jake does in the name of changing the past, it should've clarified what it wanted us to think of its protagonist. Go to Full Review

It's not a bad goal for the social good-minded time traveller, or more importantly to the matter at hand, a bad premise for a flashy miniseries designed to get attention. Go to Full Review

While "11.22.53" never really reaches the level of craftsmanship of "House of Cards" or "The Man In the High Castle," it makes up for it in it's immense "can't stop watching" entertainment value. Go to Full Review
Bryan Bishop The Verge 01/16/2020
The pilot was an absolute home run, setting up a slate of fascinating characters with complex dynamics and a world of opportunity. Go to Full Review

Despite its occasional clumsiness, 11.22.63 is an entertaining effort. Go to Full Review

Emily H. Feb 25 Loved this show. Husband and I binged It in 3 days. I never read the book so I went in blind. I didn’t want it to end. Great acting, even better story. Highly recommend. See more Chad S. @Redcoat Feb 24 I did not read the book, my family enjoyed every episode, and for once in what feels like an eternity of middle of the road movies it finished the season out with an ample conclusion. See more Bob C @cat_daddy_522 Feb 23 If, like me, you read this book and loved it, you'll be very disappointed with this film adaptation. I understand the need to cut a lot of material out of the book to fit the runtime of a miniseries, but this was poorly done. The introduction of Kentucky hillbilly "Bill" was an appalling plot device. It doesn't take Jake long to confide his whole truth and his mission to Bill, with disastrous results - this makes Jake look like a fool, in contrast to his persona in the book. The series completely changed the function of "the yellow card man" and took with it the substance of how and why the past tries to stop Jake from completing his mission. But the worst omission is how completely the series fails to develop Jake's time in Jodie. Readers of the book will wait in vain for "Jimla" and will miss all the charm of Jake's romance with Sadie. Some adaptations of King novels are terrific on the small screen (like Mr. Mercedes) and some are not good. 11.22.63 is not good - read the book. See more Mark O. @Oberg Feb 17 Not bad, but the book is much better. See more Oil Country @Dachter Feb 14 Phenomenal mini series. Has alot of suspense, and action while also being easy to follow. Plus the ending may not be everyones favorite but i thought it was really good and emotional. A must watch if you havent yet. See more Don L @DonnyBoy.. Feb 8 I really love the endings. I thought it was well acted. Could probably have done this in 5 episodes, but it still held my attention. Reminded me of Stephen King's Dead Zone. Somethings, like the cars, were a little too clean for reality, and the one Greyhound bus got overused, but overall, I enjoyed the series. See more Read all reviews
