Yves Christian Fournier
Yves-Christian Fournier was a French-Canadian filmmaker best known for his acclaimed 2008 feature film debut, "Tout est parfait." Born and raised in Canada to French-speaking parents, Fournier always dreamed of becoming a filmmaker. As a child, he would stay up late into the evening watching old movies on TV and dreaming of one day having his name on the credits. That dream came true in the late '90s when Fournier directed a few episodes of the award-winning French-Canadian documentary series " La course destination monde" (Télévision de Radio-Canada, 1988-1999). A few short years later, in 2001, Fournier had his first brush with movie stardom when his debut short film, "Sunk," racked up a wave of positive press. The short was well regarded among the Canadian film community, thus signaling the rise of Fournier as a hot young director to watch. It would be a few more years before Fournier would complete a follow-up debut feature, but when "Tout est parfait" was released in 2008, the wait proved well worth it. The film, about a young teenager who most cope with the unexpected deaths of several of his friends, was a critical hit and nominated for several Genie Awards, the Canadian equivalent of the Oscars. Audiences would have to wait another seven years, however, to see Fournier's eagerly awaited follow-up. That film, "N.O.I.R.," was released in April of 2015 in Canada amid wide anticipation, thus lending further credence to Yves-Christian Fournier's status as one of the most respected French-Canadian filmmakers of his generation.
