Kate Muir Times (UK) 100 Bloody Acres is yet another cheap'n'cheerful Australian comedy-horror film, made with gusto by Colin and Cameron Cairnes. Rated: 3/5 Jul 9, 2015 Full Review Mike McCahill Guardian It's taken three years for this negligible Aussie splatterfest to get its one-weekend-only release; you wonder why anybody thought to rescue it. Rated: 2/5 Jul 9, 2015 Full Review Sam Adams AV Club 100 Bloody Acres is as mercurial as its central character, breezily offbeat one moment, spattered in gonzo gore the next. It's as if the filmmakers ground the bits of other movies fine enough that it made a rich foundation for their own. Rated: B Jul 16, 2013 Full Review Mat Bradley-Tschirgi Battleship Pretension ...the natural performances here just feel wrong for the material. Campier performances or juicier violence would have made this an easier pill for me to swallow. Dec 8, 2020 Full Review Nicholas Bell IONCINEMA.com Never scary, but manages to squeeze some effective gore and several laughs out of its derivative little soul. Aug 22, 2019 Full Review Naila Scargill Exquisite Terror 100 Bloody Acres is an excellent example of comedy-horror that gets the balance just right, delivering a thoughtfully layered story. matthias s "100 Bloody Acres" rolls into the horror comedy scene with a bang and a bucket of blood. This Australian flick brings the laughs, thanks to some well-written dialogue and a standout performance from Angus Sampson. The special effects are a gore-hound's dream, with gruesome scenes that look disgustingly realistic. But, as with any road trip, there are some bumps in the ride. The film throws in plenty of horror clichés, which, while familiar, don't quite add to the thrill factor. The pacing is a bit like a car with a bad transmission – sometimes it roars, but often it just putters along. It's a bit slow, to be honest. Nonetheless, "100 Bloody Acres" delivers its fair share of dark humor and gore, making it a decent horror comedy flick. So, if you're in the mood for a trip down a bumpy, blood-soaked road, buckle up and give it a go. Just don't expect a smooth ride! Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 11/15/23 Full Review sarah s Simple and awesome. Not bad at all for an indie Aussie film. The humour is interjected at the right times, the dialogue and interaction flows smooth and believable, and the Aussie larrakin spirit is woven throughout. Pretty entertaining and worth a watch. Great gore. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Though not in my top 10 favourite horror films. 100 Bloody acres is an extremely odd yet weirdly charming horror film, with 'questionable' moments. Be warned the film is a very crude, black-comedy. But, with a great cast it makes for an enjoyable watch. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/18/23 Full Review harsh c nothing original and no lols Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member I wanted to like this film, but the characters all had a nasty streak, and the jokes didn't land well enough to make up for it, shame Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member Australian hillbilly comedy-horror with a good vibe to it.
