Russ G Not that bad a piece of movie making for six decades ago coming out of a Poverty Row studio called "Galaxy Productions;" it was good enough to be released through MGM. I give it 2.5 Stars out of five mostly for effort; I have no idea how low the budget was for this but the producers must have done a lot with a little. No doubt this was fodder for Saturday afternoon matinees or drive-in fare to light up the screen while the paying customers found other ... er... amusement! One hidden gem here: the high priest later got promoted to Chief of Control in "Get Smart!" Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 10/18/22 Full Review Allie T Everyone is much to harsh on this movie. George Pal who gave us the War of the Worlds was a genius. I saw it in the 60s at 12 years old and even today, it revives my memories of a Hollywood that strove to entertain and not put out the narrative that we have today. Just where do you thing Lucas and Spielburg received their inspiration! Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 10/15/22 Full Review dave s The cinematography is actually pretty decent and that Metrocolor really makes the colors pop, but, other than that, Atlantis, the Lost Continent doesn't have much to offer. A princess, who tends to be a bit moody and more than a little manipulative, is inexplicably found floating on a raft in the Atlantic and is rescued by a Greek fisherman. Tricked into returning her to Atlantis, he finds himself to be a slave of the state, simultaneously falling in and out of love with the irritating princess numerous times, and forced to fight for his freedom in a ‘fire and water' challenge worthy of Survivor. It all sounds very exciting, but it's not. The dialogue is horrible, as is the acting, and the story is absurd. To top it all off, the special effects are brutal, including the (SPOILER ALERT!!!) inevitable sinking of Atlantis. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review robert p OMG, Hollywood get a grip. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review joe m Not great but not bad tale of a fisherman, Demetrios (Anthony Hall, aka Sal Ponti), in ancient Greece who picks up a woman (Joyce Taylor) who turns out to be a the Princess Antillia from the Atlantis. She convinces the smitten Demetrios to take her back. Well, doesn't turn out well for him as he's then enslaved. The usual ensues, with some pretty good plot development and great special effects and scenery. OK viewing. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Brenda L This movie is a cult movie. I saw this movie when I was 10 yrs old and have never forgotten it. George Pal the director was a genius. The set decor and the music have been lodged in my brain since then. It has all the essential elements to be engrossing movie, a romance, a princess and her handsome rescuer. It has the evil kingdom and a fight of "fire and water". A scary section of turning humans into animals and a happy ending. What more could you want? It will always be one of my favorites! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 04/18/20 Full Review Read all reviews
