10/19/2012 What makes me watch this movie while listening to Zydeco and drinking Jagermeister? Well, I can't rightly say. But that was one fell night, let me tell you. Between the shots of that liquorice brew, the zinging and the accordian and washboards and the creepy old pre-WWI spook-fest all wrapped up in a twirling, dizzt, multi-fractaled lightning strike of an evening where hairs were standing on end and me and my viewing party did not know whether we were coming or going! Whew, haven't had a night like that since I got a pre-screen of Psycho back in the day and showed reel to reel in my basement around a drinking card game of which rules I've now long forgotten all these years later. See more 01/14/2010 El Estudiante de Praga es un clasico del terror del cine mudo, y que despues seria uno de los mejores exponentes del expresionismo alemán, junto con Murnau, Lantz y Wiene. Aqui es solo el actor principal, no dirige. La historia narra como un estudiante, experto en esgrima, joven pero pobre rescata a una condesa, ya comprometida con un primo (practicas comunes también hoy en día) porque tiene titulos de nobleza. El se enamora de ella y el sentimiento es mutuo, pero toda la familia se oponen. El como acto desesperado le vende su reflejo a Scapinelli, un hechicero que bebe mucho de mefistofeles y le da 1000 piezas de oro, el con su titulo y dinero va a pedir la mano de la condesa y ella lo acepta, pero su pretendiente lo reta a un duelo.
