Audience Member Watched this yesterday and soooo... disappointed. The movie focus is not so much the poor kid and what happens to him but the HUGE ego of Dalton's character. Reality is in an exorcism the person performing the ritual is not the one driving the evil horde away but the Lord Jesus Christ. His arrogance would have led to him being thoroughly destroyed in such a situation. The politics of the R.C. are certain and represented as such. Dalton's peer is there because he knows Dalton's character is going to fail or get it done eventually the hard way. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review Audience Member When you compare this movie to the Exorcist, as every audience member will do if they have seen that film, one cannot help but observe the cartoonish and garish nature of the production in this movie. The words of the priestly speeches and their delivery are vaudevillian in their performance. There is no subtlety to allow the foreboding to wash over the audience, it is flooded onto the audience in a deluge of B horror movie antics. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 01/24/23 Full Review Audience Member Possessed is an unabashed The Exorcist rip off. Although the action faithfully follows The Exorcist in many scenes, the direction is slow and boring. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/14/23 Full Review nilufer e This was, what could've been a good movie because I always enjoy a good exorcism and has great actors with some witty humor was below average. It wasn't scary and not original of course. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member this movie was dark and terrifying based on a true story their are moments in this movie which gave me chills if you are scared by horrors keep the lights on Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Audience Member The book would actually scare you- based on a true story... this was a bad adaption. Read the book instead. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/03/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

John Leonard New York Magazine/Vulture Much more interesting than Blatty's green gurgle, with subtexts regarding the atom bomb, the Rosenbergs, and Joe McCarthy. Feb 6, 2018 Full Review MaryAnn Johanson Flick Filosopher [S]upports the notion that the truth is usually duller than fiction, and needs to be gussied up a little to make it more dramatic.
