Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review Audience Member Silly and hilarious movie. Loved it. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review Audience Member Very funny! I Can't stop laughing since the beginning. I highly recommended. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/12/23 Full Review Audience Member Alan Rickman made this movie. I usually like Janeane but she & Binder just had no chemistry for me. But Rickman was absolutely priceless. Well worth the watch! Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/17/23 Full Review Audience Member FINALLY this film has been released on region one DVD so us yanks can get a look at what Alan Rickman was doing in 2001 (besides Harry Potter, Blow Dry and Amnesty International). LOL Great actors/directors/writers should stay busy. Now to the film... the director/lead Mike Binder brought some unusual shot editing that I found interesting. Split action storytelling is always challenging to follow, but I think it worked in this film. His performance was great and very difficult because he directed too! Dual hat-wearing is CRAZY! Janeane Garofalo always entertains me. I like her approach to characters. Any time Americans do that "say what you think" routine in front of the English I laugh because I know from first hand experience they really do cringe. It's very amusing. Don't get me started (too late) on how naturally fantastic Alan Rickman is in everything he does. This film is another example of no matter how small a part is a good actor can make it huge. {{{sigh}}} As the elusive John Gissing he's a back stabbing, immature, sexy idiot that jerks us back and forth from admiring his elitest attitude to wanting him to get hit by a taxi! Love... Hate... Loath... and ultimately right back around the vicious circle to love again. DAMN IT. SIDE NOTE: The cast tap dances (loose terminology) at the end of the film. Very fun to watch. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member I enjoyed this film. It was carried almost entirely by Alan Rickman's impressive acting skills. The rest of the cast just seemed to get in the way. The film had a good idea though and some parts were funny. I did get a sort of In the Loop or The Office UK or The Devil Wears Prada vibe which I liked. And I got to see a bit of London. Still, much of it was just off, the actors and actresses tried but they just came off as if they'd stepped out of a half-baked romantic comedy. As I said, only Rickman's expressive eyebrows and facial expressions made this film worthwhile - but his efforts were enough to make me wish this film had wider release. Scott Foundas Variety A refreshing antidote to gross-out comedies, this is a very funny film, sometimes uproariously so, but it's also low-key and measured. Aug 12, 2008 Full Review Marty Mapes Movie Habit A serviceable comedy; uneven, but offers laughs throughout and doesn't make any serious mistakes Rated: 2.5/4 Aug 30, 2007 Full Review Jeffrey M. Anderson Combustible Celluloid In the midst of all this running around Binder finds a lulling tone, thanks mainly to the quality of the performances. Aug 30, 2007 Full Review Peter Canavese Groucho Reviews It's Rickman who runs away with the whole film by running the gamut from teflon smoothie to desperate madman. Rated: 3/4 Aug 5, 2007 Full Review Brian Webster Apollo Guide It's loaded with witty dialogue, and the use of jump cuts gives the movie a distinctive look and a harried, discombobulated pace that absolutely suits the material.
