Abe C Awful - on no account start watching it, because it begins quite well as a lavish British ghost film, with the lovely Margaret Lockwood being influenced by a 40 years gone ghostly girl. The second half of the film is extraordinarily trying, although as sometimes happen, you can't seem to just turn off. The possessed girl takes sick and her life seems to be threatened. Oh the tension. The incredible obtuseness of the characters around her, the leaden pace of their wondering and failing to help. Sometimes we call a film "captivating", and this film is so - in a bad way. I couldn't stop watching and yet I was shouting at the screen, as would be obvious to any viewer by half way: "Get ---------" (I won't name the character.) Gordon Bennet. This is only still shown I think because it's attractive and has big names, but the story and pacing are an absolute shocker. If you're digging round "Talking Pictures TV" - watch the M R James ghost stories instead - infinitely better! Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 12/18/23 Full Review Audience Member good supernatural pic Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member A solid but modest ghost film Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/03/23 Full Review Audience Member It's a good plot but it really trudges along dreadfully. I have to admit that I was very interested in the ending so I stuck with it. The end of the story was good, but I developed a headache waiting for it. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/19/23 Full Review Audience Member great ghost movie, subtle yet effective.m good story Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/16/23 Full Review Audience Member This is an odd one; completely gratuitous aging of James Mason for no discernible reason. The make-up is distracting! Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/29/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
