Lillie G Kept me watching. Nice music, beautifully shot. Acting is ok for what seems like a low budget film, but the story is what is so great. Few films cover the Reconstruction period & how people responded to Sherman’s Field Order 15 with character development. This film is about atonement & about spirits being put to rest. Good film. I recommend it. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/22/24 Full Review Leanna B Very strange movie. It bounced around a lot. The acting is pretty bad. I was disappointed 😞. The whole movie is a disaster . Rated 1 out of 5 stars 10/22/23 Full Review Cyndi P Only one good white person in the whole movie? If white people put out a movie like this blm would go nuts! Very Racist movie. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 11/01/23 Full Review bill g This is a horrible horrible piece of crap Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 09/25/23 Full Review C G Definitely kept me interested! … which is the best thing I can say about a movie as most do not ! It's currently available on STARZ if you have subscription -that's where I found it, Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 09/18/23 Full Review Lily I think this movie had a bunch of potential, but ultimately it didn't really work that well. There were strange, unexplained loose ends. (SPOILER) Like what was with the random corpse in the closet that none of the characters acknowledged in front of Abe? What happened to Tyron's sister? Okay, clearly she like blood cursed the place or something and then later runs off? But they never goe into that. The corpse of the lady of the house isn't in the well with the mother, when shouldn't she be? What was with the vision of people hanging in the barn? Also, it seems like an odd coincidence that they ended up with the same land as a family member died on. Anyhow, this could have been great with maybe another 30 minutes that fleshed it out, explained a bit more. It's a little hard to write this, because I wanted to love the film. The acting was really good and it's refreshing to see a different take on a horror film than serial killer husband or creepy children hiding in the walls, etc. I don't think it got the editing perhaps it deserved.
