Tepid and tired, After's fun flourishes are let down by its generic story.

It's a movie well made for its target audience. Go to Full Review

The key to the book's success lies in its artful amateurism. It replicates the tone of one teen confiding in another and in this anodyne screen translation, its intimacy is lost. Go to Full Review

The real problem with After is that it's a lifeless slog of thinly written clichés, one that's missing the charismatic spark of the actual One Direction boys. Go to Full Review

This really is a dumpster fire of a movie, so please save your money for something more worthwhile. Go to Full Review

After is also one of those teen dramas where every emotion has to be underscored by a pop-song and a hair is never out of place. Go to Full Review

Adapted from young adult fan fiction, not much happens in this adolescent love story, yet it becomes weirdly interesting. Go to Full Review

John N Dec 22 i gave it a try but i still didn't like it, the ending must be with a psychological meaning and etc but it felt rushed. i wouldn't recommand it See more Amanda @amandawrites Dec 19 After is a textbook example of a failed literary adaptation. The film collapses under a weak, repetitive plot built on artificial conflict and a complete lack of emotional progression. The lead performances are disastrous. The actors share absolutely no chemistry, and it becomes painfully obvious that they can’t stand each other - whether on or off screen, the hostility and discomfort are impossible to ignore. Every interaction feels stiff, forced, and awkward, resulting in a bland, lifeless couple that makes emotional investment nearly impossible. This failure is especially frustrating given the source material. The novel was a massive success precisely because it offered complicated characters and a heavy sexual charge that resonated deeply with its original audience. The film strips that identity away entirely, reshaping the story to appeal to a younger, sanitized teenage market that was never part of the core Wattpad readership. The result barely resembles the story. Honestly, why do people like objectively bad movies like this? This movie is actually worse than the research job. See more Read all reviews
