Tepid and tired, After's fun flourishes are let down by its generic story.

Stephen Romei The Australian It's a movie well made for its target audience. Rated: 3/5 Jul 12, 2019 Full Review Sandra Hall Sydney Morning Herald The key to the book's success lies in its artful amateurism. It replicates the tone of one teen confiding in another and in this anodyne screen translation, its intimacy is lost. Jul 1, 2019 Full Review Caroline Siede AV Club The real problem with After is that it's a lifeless slog of thinly written clichés, one that's missing the charismatic spark of the actual One Direction boys. Rated: C- Apr 12, 2019 Full Review Natasha Alvar MovieBabble This really is a dumpster fire of a movie, so please save your money for something more worthwhile. Rated: C- Jan 29, 2021 Full Review James Croot Stuff.co.nz After is also one of those teen dramas where every emotion has to be underscored by a pop-song and a hair is never out of place. Rated: 2/5 Sep 9, 2020 Full Review Adrian Martin ScreenHub Adapted from young adult fan fiction, not much happens in this adolescent love story, yet it becomes weirdly interesting. Tara R I thoroughly believe that the target demographic for this film-would indeed enjoy this flick. It’s packed with conventional overdone teen stereotypes (the ‘badboy’ x ‘good girl’ trope to mention one), and features an awfully toxic ‘relationship’ that’s leaves the audience little room to actually route for either protagonist, due to their characters constant questionable choices. The two main actors don’t do a terrible job portraying their characters however the lack of depth of the characters themselves almost brings the actors down a notch with little to no room to express their full abilities on screen. The narrative is very predictable therefore gives no shock value to the audience. However with all the above being said, i believe that individuals who have yet to experience ‘proper’ cinematic pieces may enjoy this film as it could be classed as an ‘easy-watch’ due to its basic plot line and script that lacks depth. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 01/08/25 Full Review chloe b This was painful to watch, had to stop the film that many times to compose myself. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/07/25 Full Review Shy D If you are into cringy adolescent toxic movies I think you might like and resonate with you Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 12/28/24 Full Review Calvin O Almost painful to sit through. Story could be condensed into a minute long, bad dialog spaced out with awful montages. Predictable and very very very cringy. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 12/27/24 Full Review Hope M This is easily one of my favorite movies ever. Nothing will compare to the first time I watched it though. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 11/16/24 Full Review Bryant C Decent movie. had some great highs and lows. Wonder if the sequel is better? Rated 3 out of 5 stars 11/13/24 Full Review Read all reviews
