Did Seinfeld cast think of making this movie? Because I remember on an episode of Seinfeld they were going to make a show that was about absolutely nothing! Well here we go this film is about absolutely nothing. It tries to tell the story of a man and his grief. However, the film gives us a watered down fake tale of how tragedy and loss affect day to day life. . After witnessing the murder of a his wife and child the rest of the film follows his daily tasks as an Uber. The film falls very short of displaying the emotion and depths of grief. Losing a child is like no other loss, It is a grief that must be respected and portrayed with integrity and honesty. This is vital to enabling the audience to understand how terrible the loss of a child really is. It's a pain that never heals and life is never the same. This film falls so short of that, by showing the character returning to work,going through the motions does not scratch the surface. The attempt at arousing grief in the viewer is weak and is insulting to all parents who have lost a child. The only emotion we ever really get from the main character is when he falls on the ground as if an appendix bursts.. Thus the ending, the audience gets no questions answered! as Why did somebody kill his wife and child, how long had it been since he went back to work. All we receive are glimpses of the past going through his mind. We also get to listen in on different conversations of passengers. This film has absolutely nothing to say. This takes the prize for cinematic flop. I would be completely disgusted if I were a parent that had lost a child through violence and I watched this film. It makes the senselessness of a child's death a parody. The story dismisses the hard therapeutic work it takes on a daily basis after such a tragedy. This doesn't even deserve one star I would have to give this film a negative 50. And all of these reviews I've seen that say it's a masterpiece or it's up for some award tells me that all of that was paid for or written by an AI I can rate this up and probably the top five worst film shorts I've ever had the displeasure of watching. To sum it up Sienfeld style, "It's a show about nothing"

Lo que comenzó siendo un simple pasatiempo de una adolescente en una simple plataforma de internet termino convirtiéndose en una sorpresa inesperada. Se trata de un relato que plasma la fantasía de Anna Todd por su amor hacia Harry Styles y que por arte de magia ha logrado explotar en la plataforma de Wattpad cruzando varias barreras y llevando a la plataforma a un nuevo nivel en el mundo del cine. Aunque The Kissing Booth fue la que empezó todo, After es el debut cinematográfico definitivo de Wattpad que ha dado inicio a una nueva era donde la cultura del internet ha demostrado tener poder sobre el mundo del entretenimiento. Con la evolución de las redes sociales, ha despertado una nueva época donde el talento para hacer material creativo como la escritura ya no es algo primordial. Ahora ser tendencia y tener un gran número de seguidores es lo más relevante para alcanzar la cima. Así como algunos usuarios de YouTube han llegado lo suficientemente lejos para publicar sus propios libros y participar en películas, incluso algunos usuarios de Wattpad también lograron alcanzar esa meta que para alguien común es imposible de alcanzar de forma fácil. After es una evidencia muy clara de ello, sin olvidar mencionar que este es el nuevo legado que han dejado obras literarias como Twilight, Fifty Shades Of Gray y The Fault In Our Stars tras haber influenciado a muchas jóvenes en aquel entonces. Incluso se puede decir que ídolos juveniles como One Direction, Justin Bieber o Jonas Brothers también jugaron un rol en ese nuevo legado. La película es la típica historia de romance juvenil que a muchas jóvenes les gusta ver. Una chica bien educada y ejemplar llamada Tessa va a la universidad a estudiar y por más que ya tiene pareja, termina involucrándose con un chico guapo y rebelde llamado Hardin que piensa que el amor es algo controlable hasta que termina enamorándose de la protagonista. Es una historia que se puede resumir de forma rápida. Desde luego que los personajes tienen nombres distintos para que no hacer tan obvio que esta historia es una fantasía sobre un romance ficticio entre Anna Todd y Harry Styles. Algo que desde luego daría inicio al uso de un protagonista como claro alter ego del autor. Curiosamente, el actor que da vida a Hardin tiene una pinta casi similar a la de Harry Styles. El nombre claramente suena igual al del joven cantante y si Harry hubiera interpretado a Hardin, eso hubiera llevado a la película a su máximo nivel por razones obvias. A la vista de muchos, la película es tomada como algo cursi y como un mal producto. Pero After no es en realidad una película para todo el mundo porque su único público objetivo son las chicas adolescentes de la actualidad. La forma en que se adaptó el relato original sí puede generar opiniones divididas, pero lo cierto es que viéndola con los ojos de una chica adolescente y desde esa perspectiva, After termina siendo una película de romance juvenil excelente. Lo más criticado de esta película es su romance por el hecho de que la idea de que una chica quiera relacionarse con alguien rebelde no es saludable. Pero eso no es algo nuevo, ya que relaciones de ese tipo están desde mucho más antes. Existen películas como Wild At Heart, donde la chica de la historia tiene un fuerte romance con un Nicolas Cage criminal, Savage, donde la narradora se relaciona con dos hermanos que trabajan en un negocio ilegal, o incluso Grease, donde la chica de la historia siente atracción por un John Travolta rebelde que siempre trata de quedar bien con su pandilla. Es totalmente común que una chica por muy inocente que sea pueda sentir atracción por un chico malo. Es algo natural y completamente instintivo. Así que este tipo de relaciones que algunos consideran como algo tóxico son en realidad parte del orden natural. Está totalmente destinado que una chica vaya a sentir atracción por el macho alfa y el amor es un sentimiento que termina siendo usado como simple excusa para tratar de justificar algo que es puramente instintivo. Incluso existen casos que son una anomalía para este orden natural, pero no imposibles, donde un chico puede sentir atracción por una chica mala solo por el hecho de ser mala y ella asume el papel del alfa. Así que aunque estas relaciones puedan generar efectos negativos, son parte de un orden natural que no se debe romper. Un acierto que esta película tiene es el haber ejemplificado obras literarias como Wuthering Heights, The Great Gatsby y Pride And Prejudice para el concepto del amor en esta historia. Al principio pueden parecer solo referencias o huevos de pascua, pero son solamente pistas claves para anunciar lo que ocurría en la trama. Al principio, Hardin ve el amor como algo ficticio y no algo real, lo cual tiene algo de verdad en un cierto punto. El amor, al igual que muchas emociones humanas, es algo psicológico e ilusorio que muchas veces nos hace creer en la fantasía de un amor verdadero al cual siempre vamos a estar unidos. En esos aspectos, el amor no solo se puede considerar algo irreal, sino en una prueba de que los sentimientos humanos son o pueden ser una debilidad. El mismo Hardin comete el error de ser consumido por ese sentimiento y por eso después viene la desilusión tanto para él como para Tessa cuando nos acercamos casi al final de la película. La conclusión final es que After es una película juvenil que funciona bastante bien para la juventud actual. Tiene esa ilusión con las que las chicas de ahora sueñan y la plasma a la perfección. Obviamente, no es una película que el público adulto o de la generación pasada vaya a disfrutar porque pertenecen a una mentalidad diferente. Ya sea que al público le guste o no, After se ha convertido en el evento definitivo que demuestra que en la actualidad cualquiera puede llegar lejos en internet con o sin el talento requerido, ya que el talento se ha vuelto algo obsoleto y del pasado. Esta película inicia de manera adecuada su propia saga, sabe muy bien lo que su público objetivo quiere y es el génesis definitivo de las películas de Wattpad que llegaron después, logrando opacar a The Kissing Booth y Light As A Feather. Es un hecho innegable que hasta la fecha After es el Citizen Kane de las adaptaciones de Wattpad. Mi calificación final para esta película es un 10/10.
