Michael Talbot-Haynes Film Threat An indie epic trip beyond imagination on a five-and-dime store budget. Rated: 8.5/10 Jan 22, 2025 Full Review Josh Bell Crooked Marquee Busch's future dystopia is full of janky homemade props and costumes, plus even jankier CGI, but it's not endearingly kitschy; it's just ugly. Rated: D- Jan 8, 2025 Full Review Douglas Davidson Elements of Madness ... there’s a lot of promise within "3477" so that even the rough first hour is saved by the curio of the second, resulting in one possessing a general curiosity for how things will progress in the upcoming "Aladdin 3477 – II." michael m I backed this movie on Kickstarter...Aladdin ponders his future during his daily struggle. The slightly star warish looking movie is set in the future with a number of smooth buildings that Luke Skywalker would be familiar with and jungle fighting that reminds me of forrest fighting in some Star Wars movies. It was made on a tight budget by producer/director/etc Matt Busch and will be released in three parts (some of the footage has already been shot for the other two movies and a lot of the dessert footage was shot in Michigan so it might look familiar to some). The politcal geography is a little different...The United States of China is mentioned...There is a floating vertical looking capitol city which roams the sky in asia and possibly other places. Aladdin (Erik Steele), our main hero is a youngish scrappy thief who has lots of friends and enemies that all love to fight but death is a rare event. They could even become allies someday. He has a small open sky ship which looks like a surfboard on a rack in flight like a sail. And of course he has a short flying/floating orange/white boombox headed droid called Fidgi with whom he works on projects for the happiness of both of them. Aladdin has a young, secretive, female assasian trained "sidekick" Oomi (Lin Zy) who lurks around and watches over him. He dreams of Princess Kamala (Christi Dumar/Christi Perovski) of course...but when using a high tech frame which allows him to see thru walls and watches her, he won't let a buddy release it to the net, forgoing a lot of cred and possibly credits while showing his character where most thieves have few scruples...everybody has secrets to be revealed someday and there is something fun for everyone. Looking forward to part Two. Jinn: "Aladdin, The Past predicts the future only to those who cannot change it." Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/01/25 Full Review Senya L In a endless sea of the same CGI routine over and over again for the past couple decades, I feel that many of your average moviegoers tend to take everything at face value without really knowing what they're looking at anymore, because they've become visually desensitized to practical artistry and the work that goes into what independent films can be when they actually try. Matt Busch has gone above and beyond what an indie film typically hopes to be or ends up being. The costumes, props, and scenic design have an impressive amount of detail, and none of it simply looks cheap or tacky. Yes, it looks practical, but it also looks finished. Professional. There was an instance where it might seem to drag a bit longer than necessary for an action scene, and one or two moments where the audio seemed a bit mangled, but ALL lower-budget films have that. ALL of them. Fight me on that if you want, but I guarantee you they've all got the same issue. And when everything in that genre typically has it, then it becomes a general non-issue and shouldn't affect the rating, overall. There's certainly something for everyone in this film, and I'm willing to bet that it only gets more action-packed in the second installment. I'm invested, and I highly recommend giving it a shot if you're a fan of practical artistry like Mad Max or Wicked. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/18/25 Full Review James E J This was a difficult watch. The 2 hour run time had about 10 minutes of story. It was filled with nothing more than pointless action sequences that just pop up for no reason. With little to no character development the movie just drags and drags. A better cut of this video would be to just skip the first 75% of pointless scenes before we find out that Aladdin wants the princess, and the genie appears. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/07/25 Full Review Todd R Aladdin 3477 is a very impressive Independent film! First part of a trilogy, the end leaves you wanting the second film to drop ASAP. I’ve been waiting several years for this movie, and I wasn’t at all disappointed. This is independent filmmaking that it’s most fun. Arabian Nights, with the soul of Star Wars and Cyberpunk, executed most respectfully. Loved it! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/06/25 Full Review Read all reviews
