Audience Member I really liked this movie, and it doesn't suprise me that most people don't. Most people don't have ongoing experiences with the dead. I do. I have since I was a kid. Ghosts are just people. They have the same postive and annoying qualities as living people. They can be helpful, but once living people know you can talk to the dead they want you to do it for them. This can be fun and interesting, but it can also lead to being exploited for your gift. In the end Zel becomes worn out because she can never truly rest. Think how tired you would be if you talked not only to the living but to the dead as well... and they never shut up!? There are so many ways in which I can relate to this odd movie. It's black humor, it's offbeat characters, the music that gives it it's genuinely otherworldly quality. The mystery that only Zel can solve and the way she does it. I think the people who made this movie know what's up. Angela Bettis is wonderful as Zel, but many of the other performances are also great. Don't be put off by the reviews. This is an interesting experience and it will make you think. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/18/23 Full Review Audience Member What a dull movie! At first, I kept thinking that I just didn't get it but in the end I did. I just didn't care. The main character, Zel, is a plain dull character. I actually watched the first half twice bc I thought I missed something vital to the story. I didn't. Don't bother with this apathetic mess. Hang out with your friends instead. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/10/23 Full Review Audience Member Great film, but spooky in a way. The music really brings a feel to it Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review Audience Member As a standalone film, "All My Friends Are Funeral Singers" is slow and slightly dull. Yet, if one keeps in mind this was directed by essentially the band Califone for the release of one of their albums of the same name, one can enjoy the film a little more with their tongue in cheek. Filled with good music and sub-par technical filmmaking, "All My Friends Are Funeral Singers" is more of a moving art piece than a complete film. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/04/23 Full Review Audience Member The movie info is wrong on a couple of points. The ghosts have been there for decades and it was Zel's grandmother who trapped them, not the light in the woods. If you watch to the end you'll see Zel unplug the light and it leads you to believe she planned it all along so she could have her life back. A 'don't want to lose you but I wish you would go' kind of thing. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/17/23 Full Review Audience Member Cast: Angela Bettis, Emily Candini, Reid Coker, Kevin Ford, Karol Kent, George McAuliffe, Michael McGinley, Sierra Magdalena Mitchell, Alan Scalpone, Molly Wade, Wesley Walker Director: Tim Rutili Summary: In an old country house, fortune teller Zel (Angela Bettis) tries to pacify a group of rebellious ghosts, including several blind musicians, a priest, bride and speechless child, who she's lived with for numerous years and all of a sudden yearn to leave. Written and directed by Tim Rutili, this bizarrely captivating film features a wealth of original music from his critically acclaimed post-rock band Califone. My Thoughts: "I honestly just didn't like this movie. I couldn't get into it or care to finish it, although I did. The film does nothing and goes nowhere. It's more of an artsy piece of film, usually I like them, but not this one. I just couldn't wait for it to be over with. I kept waiting for something important or substantial to take place but it never did. I just felt lost and confused. I didn't like the music either. Just very boring."
