Critics Consensus

Inept on almost every level, Alone in the Dark may not work as a thriller, but it's good for some head-slapping, incredulous laughter.

Liam D “Based” on the video game of the same name (as in taking the name of both said game and the main character and nothing else) this is Uwe Boll’s masterpiece as in it’s both an incredibly boring and laughable horror movie with an terrible script, horrendous acting, awful effects and noisy music Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 10/07/25 Full Review David W The curse of Uwe Boll strikes again. A superb game series is transposed to the big screen in just about the worst way imaginable. Utterly terrible. Did Slater and Dorff star in this for a bet? The script and direction are coherent and competently done. The leads actors perform capably. Just chill and enjoy. (Please note that I watched Alone In The Dark 2 and then went back to watch the first). Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 09/18/24 Full Review Read all reviews
